2 quotes from Torrey that tell me he hasn't a clue why he was benched. He should be saying he knows he's not producing enough offense... not saying it's the coach's view and only "wishing" he had more points? He should be saying he has to produce more points.

And #sjshark Mitchell's self-evaluation: "I wish I had a few more points offensively and I wish I had a little more impact on some games."

You gotta understand that a lot of players talk to the media in that fashion. He's just going through the motions.
Yah that pretty much tells me the Sharks are done with Mitchell.
Which is no surprise. Our call ups have been as successful, if not more, than him ever since he broke his leg; and their price tags are much more affordable for a full season.

I thought Wingels was Torrey Mitchell without the speed last night.
It is a shame. I had always held strong hopes for Mitchell to be a solid top/bottom 6 tweener with great speed. His shorty vs. Anaheim is a very memorable goal, but sometimes players just can't reach a level, be it from their will/ethic to injuries, to situations they find themselves dealing with.
Not that Mitchell does much with his wheels, but man we'll put in a bid for slowest team in the league if/when he's booted out. We've got Marleau and McGinn (Havlat too I guess when he's actually playing), that's about it.
Wingels was largely ineffective. My hope is that Mitchell trade has gone down and he's out to not get hurt, because Wingels wasn't really an improvement.
It is a wierd thing with SJ and speed. Havlat, Marleau, and Mitchell are all in the top-15 fastest/best-skating forwards in the league. Boyle and Burns are both up there for defensemen. Mcginn, A.Murray, Winchester, Desjardins are by no means slow.
It is just that everyone else is either horridly slow or just average.
I've tweeted at DP for more info...I think Wingels has been reassigned to Worcester (I have no real definitive proof either way, just following up on a hunch).

You think those two are in the top 15? I really doubt it.
Mitchell may be fast, but he is not a great skater. I always thought of Havlat of being a better skater than what we've season this season. Marleau is obviously pure class and Boyle is right up there.

Boyle is not fast. He is nifty, but he is barely average on straightahead speed. Burns is another fast Shark. I don't think Mitchell has been tops on speed since recovering from his last major injury. Above average but not tops.
