We outplayed them, I believe, for the majority of the game. We were creating some stuff around their net. Smith made some big saves to push it into overtime. We were fortunate to get a goal there early in overtime and get out of here with two points. (on whether he has become accustomed to tight, low-scoring games…) Well, it seems like it has happened frequently, but every game brings its own challenges on for a goalie. Sometimes you’re going to have to make 40 saves. Sometimes you’re going to have to make 18, and a few of them are going to be real quality. Sometimes your team is going to score four goals for you. Every game is different and every game has its own challenges. You prepare to come in and not let in any. That’s ultimately your goal, but sometimes they’re going to get a few and you need your team to score some goals."

Greener [Matt Greene] changed for me there. I just wanted to get into the play. I saw that we had control of the puck so I raced up to the blue line. Me and Stolly [Jarret Stoll] made eye contact and made a nice pass. Then I just tried to drive the net and sometimes you just have to score those dirty goals like that. (on his long goal drought…) I don’t know, I guess it is a little surprising. Most of all, for me, it’s just frustrating. I know that they come in bunches and now that I got this one and finally got the monkey off my back, I think a lot more will come in these next few games."

Let’s make sure we push right back and get it tonight. We’ve established a pretty decent home record, but we want Staples Center to be a harder place to play.
Also in terms of subtle team-building. Rather than players trickling off the ice, one or two at a time, after practice, for the most part they now leave the ice as a group, and then have a full-team meeting in the locker-room area after removing gear. It’s just something different. It keeps us fresh and it keeps us on our toes. We’re enjoying the up-tempo style that he’s bringing, and we’re excited about what he’s bringing, that enthusiasm. We’re feeding off that, and we’re excited. I think you can tell in practice. Guys are smiling, guys are excited and guys are skating out there pretty hard. His enthusiasm is rubbing off on us.
(avoiding a “trap game’’ tomorrow …) I hate to go to the `two points’ thing, but they’re just as important tomorrow as they are in the 81 games. We can’t afford to let anything slip. We know where we stand. Yeah, we’re six points out of first but we’re also two points out of ninth. So it’s a fine line. You win a couple in a row and you’re in there, but we’ve got to keep the push going and get ourselves where we want to be. We want to be comfortable and keep pushing forward."

Brownie [Dustin Brown] made two great plays from both wings, one where he cut in and one where he made the play over to (Anze) Kopitar. Those are prime chances, and thankfully we were rewarded. The real math is that tonight was game 41 and that means halfway. You can sort of see what the numbers would be to be a playoff team based on if that holds true, whoever is in eighth tonight, whatever that is and what the next number is going to be, so it has to be your goal. That’s how close it is and it’ll be like that at the end. That’s how close it is. Three or four wins and three or four points."

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

If we don't score more than 2 goals in this game it's going to be depressing.

Richards and Carter reunion. It will bug me immensely if we lose this game... I expect the strongest looking game of the season. We better come out hungry, if we underestimate them we'll lose, just like what Vancouver did against them earlier in the season. Play hard the full 60. Get the win. GO KINGS!

That's where they (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/cob/report) had him on the roster report ... I edit from that point forward once additional information comes out before the game. So don't sweat the small stuff

I think you're being a little bit overly defensive.

I was just wondering why Columbus chose to put him on the 4th line. I wasn't questioning the accuracy of your info.

Not at all ... just letting you know where I got the info, so that when you take over you know where to get it from also

He might not be ? this site has a different line-up ... http://www2.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/l...s-blue-jackets ... but I usually forget about that one, and it's easier to pull up Yahoo for the GDT's. But again don't sweat the SMALL stuff, as I usually update the GDT constantly right up until Rich Hammond puts out his scouting report before the game. He's usually the most accurate.

I think they get 2 tonight and put up 4.

The team needs to get all the W's it can on this homestand...

I read this comment from Justin Williams and liked the 'team' concept idea (new he said) post practice. From Hammond's piece today
Quote:
Williams also addressed some of the changes Sutter has brought, in terms of subtle team-building. Rather than players trickling off the ice, one or two at a time, after practice, for the most part they now leave the ice as a group, and then have a full-team meeting in the locker-room area after removing gear.
Hoping by the next game Richards is back at center where he belongs.

A couple of things with the line-up in the original post...
There are no "scratches" for the CBJ forward lines. Clark and Wilson are no longer with the team.

According to our beat reporter Aaron Portzline from here: http://twitter.com/#!/Aportzline

The forward lines in practice yesterday were:
Prospal - Carter - Nash
Umberger - Vermette - Brassard
MacKenzie - Pahlsson - Dorsett
Russell - Johansen - Boll

But, in this morning's paper, he had Russell (Ryan, we traded Kris) on the third line. If MacKenzie is back on the fourth, I don't know whether he or Johansen would be the center. Johansen had 6 minutes worth of high-sticking penalties on Thursday (all on Boyle), so his slip in the lines might be partly explained by that.

Sanford is also supposed to be the starting goalie.

Someone asked about Brassard...
It seems as though Arniel had certain issues with certain players - last season it was party-boy bachelor Mike Commodore (who was leading at least a few young players down a similar path - allegedly). Brassard (who along with Voracek were good friends with Commodore) appears to be having similar issues with Arniel this season. Nothing has been stated outright, but Brassard has ended up in the dog house multiple times for some reason (his play has been substandard, but not any more so than that of Umberger and Vermette).

One more thing, the CBJ appear able to play either offense or defense in each game. So we have gotten scores of either 2-1 or 6-5. Don't worry if your team is down going into the third. Portzline had an article sometime within the last week or so with the following stats: The CBJ have blown third period leads 8 times this season. The rest of the NHL combined have done that 18 times.

Uh oh, afternoon game. Kings can't lose this one since all the other teams in the Pacific have beaten them. So.....Must Win!

Kings get 5 goals, one of them an empty net. Book it.
