Are you willing to give Gomez another chance?

Simple question: Are you willing to give Gomez another chance?

Yes we all want Getzlaf, Eric Staal and Rick Nash, but forget the unrealistic trades for a moment. The Canadiens org. is still a business and having 8 million dollars just being wasted in the press box surely has to be extremely bad for business.

I keep hearing lots of comments that no one wants to see Gomez in a Habs jersey ever again. It seems that everything that went bad this season is all Gomez's fault. Personally, I don't agree with most and I think he can be a positive contributor to this teams success.

Think Brian Campbell. How do Chicago's fans feel right now?

So I wanted to see what a poll would look like in here. Do you think he can still contribute to this team? Are you willing to give him another shot in a habs jersey, and see him succeed? yes or no

He is finished as a Hab and the only chance he has to rebound would be elsewhere.

It would be at the expense of Eller or Desharnais. Both deserve their spot.

The only reason I'd let him back into the lineup is that he can't hurt his trade value, he's already at absolute zero. Might as well let him play himself off the team so to speak.

Under certain circumstances:

1-One or more of Eller, Plekanec, Desharnais (and Leblanc if he's in Montreal) need to be injured.
2-He starts at the bottom of the ladder.
3-When he comes back, he doesn't get PP time. He needs to clearly outplay offensively the second center in the lineup (at 5 on 5) before he's plugged in the second wave.
4- Zero preferential treatment because he's a veteran, he's got a big contract, he's making management look bad for the McDonagh trade, or his name is Gomez.

This.

As long as Eller's ice-time is untouched, frankly I don't care either way.

At this point of the season, his salary doesn't come into play. If he's going to be a deterrent to a trade (cap wise), then send him down. Otherwise, keep him on the roster and give him 4th line minute and maybe very little ice time on the PP, if just to enter the zone.

He's not a bad hockey player. He's just not a great one (which is what his salary requires him to be).

Would ease him back in the lineup with PP time and 2nd line minutes.

Grigorenko here we come.

No. He lost my support when he changed to number 11. He can do nothing to gain it back. I'll hate him even if we win the cup and he's the Conn Smythe winner.

Had the organization been fully committed to winning, he'd have been in the minors already. Oh well.

Depends, in a rebuild he isn't hurting anything, he's taking up cap space, but if a 2 year mini rebuild is the direction, which is what I favor. We can survive his cap hit. We don't need the space, if a can't miss deal presents itself and we need the space, do away with him.

If the plan is to keep pretending we're a contender, he needs to be dealt, his cap hit vs production is too much of a burden. Send him to Europe/Alaska, whoever will take him. A buy out is a no go, it doesn't benefit us enough.
