Colin Wilson will return to the lineup tonight and Brian McGrattan will be scratched according to reports from the morning skate. Therefore, my question to everyone is...where do you fit Wilson back into the lineup and who drops out of the top 9?
With Bourque replacing Wilson on that Spaling-Tootoo line they haven't missed a beat. However, the top-6 has struggled to create offense outside of Kostitsyn's hat trick last Saturday. IMO, I'd look to insert Wilson back in the lineup in Craig Smith's place and drop Smith all the way down to the fourth line tonight...
Kostitsyn - Fisher - Hornqvist
Wilson - Legwand - Erat
Bourque - Spaling - Tootoo
Halischuk - Smithson - Smith
Hopefully Wilson creates offense to get the top-6 going again and the move sends a message to Smith to simplify his game and regain that shoot first mentality that he entered the season with. Smith is still 3rd in rookie scoring this season, but he's gotta get back on that horse and find some consistency to stay up there...
Horny to the 4th with Smitty and Hals. (as an aside, I think I've gotten to the point I'd almost rather skate McG than Smitty. I know he wins face-offs but I don't wanna' see him on the ice with Leggy and Erat when we need to score goals and he won't do that with McG)
Bourque with Toots and Spaling - THAT is an energy line.
Fish between SK and Smith
Leggy between Marty and Wilson
I agree with Smith needing to be demoted. He looks completely different out there compared to his first few months. He needs to get his game back because right now he's just bogging down what little offense is left in our top 6
