That's clearly hurt the Barons, as they're sitting in la-...wait a second, they're in first?

you can probably thank good coaching for that. It still hurts development, Petry should've spent 1 year in the AHL. Time and time again, they were never able to do it b/c of the injury issues.

Now the Barons' depth is decimated and without Tom Gilbert, the Oilers cant stop anybody

So you're concerned about stacking our ECHL team's depth so when our guys get injured OKC still has depth..? and Anton Stralman is the answer?

Come on, we have bigger things to worry about.

Petry clearly is doing just fine with the way he was developed

What does ECHL team have to do with it? Strahlman is probably better than Theo Peckham. Yea i know you ll say he is even or plus in many games, but i dont put a lot into +/-... Peckham still kinda sucks

although he had a good game today

Yes but why cant the oilers take their time with some players. Why cant they Darren Helm a player? Make him grind his way in the AHL for a year, even after a good playoff run?

They did it right with Jordan Eberle. But for some reason they did not want to send down PRV until the end of the year (2011 obviously). And now they are doing the same with Lander.

Lander should be down playing like 20 minutes a night, in all situations.

Peckham does suck, IMHO he's a poor man's version of what Teubert should become, a physical bottom paring guy.

Peckham is what he is, a bottom pairing D man. The problem is that we need 4 solid D men able to move the puck out of our end which we don't have. These players will eat up the bulk of the minutes in a game. Our current D zone coverage is atrocious and is why we can't maintain leads in hockey games. They get out muscled in front of the net and in the corners, and often the first pass out of the zone is a bad one. Sutton and Smid look like all-stars on this D core and they are bottom pairing guys at best. Size up front and experienced competent D men have to be addressed before this team will have any success.

Teubert is just a vastly superior skater to Peckham.

I admire how hard Pecks plays, the hits he can deliver, and the fact he can stick up for his teammates, but he just doesn't have the quickness and footspeed down low or on the rush to be CONSISTENTLY successful.

Sometimes he times it right or plays the right angle, but he's forced to take a lot of penalties off the cycle because he just can't defend and move his feet quick enough.

You're grossly underestimating Smid. But otherwise it's pretty much bang on.

This year he has played well, easily top 4 on this team. I don't know if he makes top 4 anywhere else though. Sorry for the OT stuff guys.

Smid would be a very good second pairing shutdown guy on any team. Top pairing on some
