Even if Jags was voted to ASG, I highly doubt he'd participate.
Jagr's initial groin injury occured in the mid 90's when he was selected to participate in the fastest skater competition and it has bothered him ever since.
It would be nice to see him selected but I assume he would decline and use the time off to rest so he can accomplish the ultimate goal, which is helping the Flyers win games.
i agree with anything that gets simmonds off briere's line. although i'd like to see couturier on the top line or at least start getting some decent minutes.

To those who have said that Jagr was never fast, you should put this on those threads.

Do you remeber that? I can't recall the exact year...maybe '94 or '95, he was going against Federov. Anyway, that was the first time Jags pulled his groin and he complained about it b/c those guys weren't allowed on the ice to skate before hand to properly warm up and stretch. I remember jags saying how dishearted he was that a stupid skills competition caused an injury that forced him to miss games and it is something that has bothered him ever since.

I think it was 1994 if I'm not mistaken . Jagr played all 48 games in 1994-95.
Jagr was blazing fast and I remember people arguing against me that Selanne and other players were faster than Jagr, I said that they weren't.
Jagr in his young days was among the top 10 fastest players in the league.
Of course his lower back has been mentioned as well..so calf, groin and lower back. Tomorrow it will be a nasty virus. Wash, rinse, repeat...oh and spin...

^ It's not atypical of the competitive instinct of an athlete to paint a rosier picture. Whether the Flyers are erring on the side of caution in this instance by keeping him sidelined longer than needed is possible. The text written by Tim P. could support that but the part about accelerating should be emphasized.
Jaromir Jagr skated by himself at the morning skate on Thursday and didn’t rule out the possibility of returning to the lineup sooner than a week to 10 days.
“I was surprised to hear that, because I didn’t feel that way,” Jagr said of the timeline, adding he was actually speared in the groin area against Pittsburgh last week, not the calf.
Jagr said this injury is different from the groin pull he suffered in November. He said it’s not as bad, yet at the same time, he can’t accelerate fully to open up his stride without pain.
“Only way I feel pain is when I push my leg all the way,” he said. “That was in the game. Today, I felt fine but it’s only practice and I don’t [extend] … I have at least two more practice days and it heals quick.”
great news, looks like he probably won't be out too long. I say skip this game obviously and hopefully the next and be back for one of the ottawa games, if not no big deal.
I'm bummed b/c I have tickets for the game tonight and Jagr and Hossa are my two favorite players.....was really looking forward to watching them go head to head.

I say he should sit this game out and hope for a Saturday or Sunday return.
We all know that last time when Jagr tried to come back too early, he got sidelined again. In November the schedule was messed up so it actually helped Jagr because the 4 games he missed were spread out to 2 weeks.
