I didn't mind the realignments but I wasn't a fan of the way they had the playoffs set up. Too many worthy teams would get screwed out of a spot with lesser teams taking their place. I think it would've just ended up with less exciting playoff games throughout the first a second rounds.

this still sucks for WPG.

Why didn't they have a "backup plan" that changes them with NSH? Do you know something?

Gotcha. Thanks.

I still it gets done for '13-14, just at a cost to the owners. Rejecting it is a huge bargaining chip for the players.

Not correct....Detroit and Columbus were the 2 teams that approved the realignment.

I had read somewhere that 27 of 29 NHLPA reps voted against it. Although there should be 30 reps so that can't be right. On the Wings' board they said their PA rep(Kronwall) voted against it.

Why the hell would Winnipeg players reject this? They'd rather travel far as hell to the Eastern Conference cities and have to play divisional games in Florida, Washington and Carolina? I don't get it. There had to of be some convincing by Fehr of why it is a great idea to reject the alignment. Leverage I am assuming.

Actually under the proposed realignment there was a very good chance Winnipeg's travel would increase.
The other huge issue was the unfair playoff seedings.

" the Jets were also expected to rack up even more travel time, a stunning revelation given that realignment was in part aimed at getting the recently relocated team out of a division with two Florida teams. Which may help explain why Jets co-owner Mark Chipman was muted in his disappointment that the deal was nixed."
