You said it right there. Our defense sucks. everyone's singled out the goalie. Our defense BLOWS. Poor Bryz thought he was headin to the best defense in the league and everyone but mez and kimmo sucks, now he sucks too

If Leighton is recalled before the playoffs he will be picked up by someone. He is on the last year of his contract and they'd only be responsible for half of what's left, so $750,000 or so. Dan Ellis is injured, Hiller, I believe, was injured tonight, so there are teams out there that could use him.

Play Leighton with this defense? Did no one see him in Carolina?

Leighton was a product of great defense.

Putting him behind terrible defense would be an abomination.

You forget, the Bryz fanboys will counter this with 'but the statistics don't show the quality of the shots!'. Basically, the proof is out there. Bryzgalow stinks. His SV% stinks. His GAA stinks. His attitude stinks. His contract stinks.

*Sigh*.

Just when I was starting to believe, another stinker of a game from Bryzgalov. That Karlsson goal is inexcusable and it was a very, very soft rebound on that 2nd goal too.

What really sucks though is you could tell the confidence that had been building is gone once again...

I'm really, really starting to wonder how far we can make it w/ a head case like Bryz in goal... If all it takes is one bad game or two to have this guy back "lost in the woods", how are we ever going to make it through a postseason series? Let alone 4 of them...

my god.

he had a chance on exactly 1 goal today: a stupid pinch by Bourdon on a Jagr turnover .. and even that was a 3 on 1.

he bailed them out all game, esp. in the 1st period.

The last two games, when Bryz has decided to play well, our defense pretty much **** the bed.

All season it's been Bryz letting down our defense.

We just need to get things clicking together, and we'll be alright.

How is the defense going to get better without a trade?

That is how I feel. We need to go out and get another defenseman so we're not relying on rookies and fringe NHL defenders that so far have shown that the wheels will fall off when push comes to shove. Doesn't have to be a huge deal, just something better than we have. A large deal could require too much asset movement and creates holes in the team that will either need to be filled by more trading or by rookies and we can't keep doing that.

Screw Gleason, or anyone else.

Suck it up and wait until the offseason, then acquire one of Suter or Weber. Preferably Weber. IMO, that's where I'd like to see assets go. Let's be honest with ourselves; this isn't a Cup team anyways. Not this year. The best thing Homer can do is set them up for the future, methinks.

This. Homer needs to be smart and not make a myopic move because of some misguided belief that this team can win a Stanley Cup in 2012. Even worse, I hope a tantrum from the owner doesn't facilitate a desperation trade.

Just re watched the goals by Karlsson and Kuba? (shot from point)

They were WEAK. I haven't been impressed with his play the last 15 or so games... I was super happy we got him, now I'm frustrated as ****.

a 3 on 1 after a weak Jagr turnover and a weak Bourdon pinch

a shot tipped in front of the net [about 4 feet away from Bryz]

1st goal: a man cruising completely alone 3 feet from the net
2nd: 2 feet away, unmarked
3rd: tipped in by a Flyer

the only goal he had a chance on was the 3 on 1. you want to blame him, then give him 1/3 blame, Jagr 1/3 and Bourdon 1/3

Bryz bailed them out MANY times again Sunday .. the break away, the 1st period

This is my point as well, the blame is very much spread around.

The Karlsson shot going in was all on Bryz. Dude has a quick release, but that was a soft bad goal, regardless of how it got there. The other goals in the game...no goalie will have good results with these chances, and when Carle pots one in your own net, and Hartnell deflects in the game winner.

Watching the Flyers Sens is like battle of the dualing turnovers. Both teams...all game.

the turnovers have been no doubt brutal. its not just the amount of turnovers its the area on the ice where the Flyers are turning it over.
Some of them are unforced turnovers too. Just too many times we have players who are trying to force something, or make a high risk pass, or just outright drop it into a open area on the ice. Guys just need to make smarter decisions with the puck.

That's what I'm most scared of. Big Ed threw a tantrum last year even though it was obvious that the Flyers were going to bounce from their performance the previous year. They're in a great position to make a move for next season, but a dumb desperation trade this season can screw that up.

Luckily, the Bryz experiment is unfolding in a manner that might keep Snider from doing that again.
