IMO the Habs are a better team with Gomez on the ice than Darche or Nokelainen.
Are people purposefully leaving out Kaberle?
I'd rather see him dealt for a 2nd rounder plus middling prospect.
If he keeps putting up numbers we have a shot at getting a decent return
Just my 2 cents
Call me crazy....but keep in mind that we didn't see all the players in this new offensive style of play that Cunneyworth is using. Some are and will be more effective.
The thing is....chemistry.
Not the best player overall....but chemistry is everything right now.
If there's not chemistry between players, we need to change
Moen - Eller - AK
Pacioretty - DD - Cole
Cammalleri - Gomez - Gionta
Blundem/Darche/Nokeleinen - Plekanec - White
Tell me that Plekanec, as good as he is, have tremoundous chemistry with either Gionta and/or Cammy...Do we break all the chemistry of the other line to find chemistry with Plekanec?? While we know Gionta and Gomez have that chemisrty and with Cammy, this line could be a monster in an offensive style!!
At least...i'd try that!!
You just put Pleks on the 4th line. If you want Gomez with Gio the put Darche/Blunden with them and then put Pleks with Cammy and White.
You're too assertive. You state opinions as though they were facts. Absolute is a strong term and while some players may lack grit it doesn't apply to everyone. As for Markov, what do you know that the rest of us don't? If and when he appears in uniform, are you going to wear a tee shirt admitting that you flunked out of medical school in the second week of your first semester?
No, this is Pierre Gauthier.
And what I say aren't opinions, they are facts. Canadiens lack of grit of toughness. This isn't an opinion, it's a fact that's being conveyed by most hockey specialists eveywhere but in Montreal.
Stop doing drugs. There's absolutly no grit, toughness and rough stuff on this roster.
And Markov isn't going to be back.

Keep Gomez on the 4th line until he shows he DESERVES more than 4th line minutes, I guarantee Randy won't be giving him 18-20 minutes a night and PP minutes like Jacques was if he continues to play like ****. I like the idea of playing 7 D and keeping Gill/Kaberle's 5 on 5 minutes limited, Diaz doesn't deserved to be scratched and Markov won't be playing over 20 minutes a night when he comes back.
I drank a bit too much on Saturday night (it happens sometimes!) while watching our Habs vs Tampa ...didn't observe all the lines on Saturday (except Moen-Eller-AKosts), but would anyone know the official lines pre-game and if coach Randy was consistent in using these lines for the Saturday victory? (thanks).

Nope, it's only your opinion. You see what you want to see. Simple.
I dont like cammy-pleks-gionta. Its not so much about size, because I've seen small lines work before, but there isn't much cohesion there. Its the type of line that should be dangerous in transition, but it just doesnt work. I dont have a fix for it either.
I really like our Eller line, and the DD line though. I dont want to break those up.
No team in the NHL, not even Boston who have an unreal stretch, are at a .75 clip, no one. How do you figure montreal would do this? 3/5? Maybe, 3/4? no. If montreals goes at 0.6 winning percentage they'd finish with less than 90 points. Game over. We're 7 points out of 8th with a game extra played and 5 points out of 15th with 2 games extra played. The sadest part is this comes after 2 wins a row. If that were 2 losses...1 point off bottom of the pack. At a certain point, this line up needs a NJD type of 2nd half or dreams over so I'm kinda hoping they don't fool people into thinking they'll make it.
Everybody says we need to go at a 0.600 pace or whatnot... Now, I have not calculated anything, ans I have drank a little too much of this amazing beer to start, but I'm pretty sure people forget the 1 point for OT/shootout loss. If we get a few of those, playoffs are not out of reach.
By the way, even with the 2 last wins and how exciting the team has been, I wish we would do a "firesell" (get rid of Gomez, find a decent trade for Cammalleri, possibly Pleks or Pacioretti if the return makes sense *ie. Getzlaf)) and finish deep down to finally draft someone realy good. I do not see a point in finishing [8-10]
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gionta
Cammalleri - Desharnais - Cole
Moen - Eller - Kostitsyn
X -Gomez - White
The only problem with this roster is Cammy dragging down any line on which he will find himself on. BUT...if he is to wake up, DD and Cole are pretty much the best bet.
Gomez is were he ought to be. He needs to revert his number to #91 and play Bang-Crash-Shoot hockey to revive what ever is left of his hockey career.
An alternative I would like to try:
Nokes- Eller - AK
Moen - Gomer - White
Eller is having a hard time in the faceoff circle. Nokes becomes an excellent backup.

I don't think a couple more won faceoffs make it worth breaking that line. They are our best line everytime they are together and with our defence I don't think breaking our top shutdown line is a good idea.

Okay, i'll put a different system in place.
Habs need around what, 94 points? We currently have 39, we need 55 more. Instead of doing win % i'll do point %. With 41 GP left, we have to make 55 points out of a possible 82PTS. That's 67% for point percentage. Now...the highest ranked team in the league, the NYR are currently sitting at a 71.8% and say the 6th ranked team in our conference is at 58.5%. The vancouver canucks, 2nd in the NHL are at 65.4% So again, to get 94 pts we need to keep a similar point percentage between 1st and 2nd in the entire league and way above the 6-7-8 ranked teams. Yah...we're not making it.

Chances are very slim, indeed, but, really, who knows ? Season's not finished until it is finished.
But yeah, VERY slim, I like our wins thus far, the way the team plays, but the poor play under JM and the time it took for Gauthier to fire him was too long...
Markov - Gorges
Emelin - Diaz (****ing love this pairing)
Kaberle - Subban
Gill
* Darche/Weber if we go with 12 forwards.
- Blunden demoted.
- Campoli traded or waived.
EX: Darche, Weber, Nokelainen
NOTE: Defense is hard to figure out. I don't want Gill in the Top-6. Can Kaberle play RD? I don't like Emelin on RD, plus I love him with Diaz. Subban goes to 3rd pairing by default (but he'd have lots of PP time and PK time anyway, so he'd be playing 20 minutes per game still).
Ideally, I'd probably trade Gill and let Weber play as the 7th defenseman, with the odd shift on the 4th line when everyone is tired.

Shocking, I agree with you. Letting Subban skate with both Gill and Kaberle would let him get the ice time he needs, as well as know when to shutdown and when to go offense. Emelin-Diaz is amazing, especially considering how little chemistry they had at first.
Preferably Gomez is gone too. Nokelainen is pretty good at faceoffs and can kill penalties, which is more useful than Gomez. Eller/Nokelainen as our PK guys gives Plekanec some rest. I'd prefer Blunden to Darche as the 12th though, he's younger and could have a future as a fourth liner here. White/Blunden-Nokelainen-White/Blunden could be a good physical line(who don't take penalties) who can put up points every now and then. All three have untapped offensive potential. Especially Nokelainen, I'll be disappointed if we let him go for nothing. He's young, wins faceoffs, Finnish, is big and can kill penalties.

I would prefer Nokelainen in the line-up too. Darche/Blunden is a wash for me. Darche is pretty good on the PK but Blunden hits really hard.
But, we both know Gomez is getting his spot back no matter what. It's also why I put Gill down instead of Weber, who I'd prefer get the ice-time.

I don't think Subban and Kaberle should be together, Subban makes a lot of dumb plays that put him out of position. Gorges has been covering for him a lot. Your forward lines are good though.

Subban should also be kept off the 1st PP line, his shot isn't what it used to be and is costing us way too many plays.
I love Emelin, but he looks like garbage on the right side. Well, garbage is overdoing it, but he doesn't look comfortable there at all. He makes worse decisions, hits less, and just doesn't play his game.
Kaberle/Subban would play sheltered minutes at ES. 10ish minutes per game. Or you could go Gill-Subban, which had some success when it wasn't a first pairing before. Maybe it can work against as a 3rd pairing, and you can give them 10 minutes at ES (which both would get more with the PK/PP).
I wouldn't put Markov on the PK very often (only over Kaberle), so that he can focus on offense and so he can work on getting his game going again.
Emelin, Diaz, Gill, Subban, and Gorges are more than enough to carry the PK duties.
Markov - 20 minutes per game
Gorges - 22 minutes per game
Emelin - 20 minutes per game
Diaz - 18 minutes per game
Subban - 20 minutes per game
Kaberle - 10 minutes per game
Gill - 10 minutes per game
Give or take a few minutes every game depending on the PP/PK situations.
And yes, my first PP wave would be;
Patches - DD - Cole
Kaberle - Markov
Followed by;
Cammalleri - Plekanec - Gionta
Kaberle - Markov
Followed by;
Gomez - Eller - Kostitsyn
Subban - Diaz

Do you dispute that they forechecked the hell out of the Lightning? If that doesn't involve grit, then you don't know the meaning of the word. Or what about the Jet game? Yes, it is only your opinion.
