The Canucks have a tendancy to promote the best playing forward, and Duco is coming off a hat trick. So its not surprising Duco got the call and not Mancari.
Also the Florida relationship with Duco may have played some part of it.
This guy showed real work ethic during the preseason, if he brings that ill be happy with his 4-12 minutes that the 4th line usually gets. If the guy is going to be willing to hustle and bang, he may keep the 13th forward position over Ebbett. Who has been impressive in his short stints in the lineup. Its too bad a guy with his skill is his size. He'd be an everyday NHL'r if he was even 2-3 inches taller

Wasn't Alberts playing wing against Boston? Can't Booth take Ebbett's spot while Alberts moves back to defence with Salo's injury and Duco takes that spot?

I thought Alberts played on defense, but I also recall him in the offensive zone down deep, so who knows. Wasn't paying all that much attention to AA.

Yeah, the Canucks played with 6 D and 12 forwards, then Ebbett got hurt, so maybe Alberts did play forward for a few shifts? I thought he played defense, just didn't play a ton of minutes, and then someone filled in for Ebbett on the forward group (double shift someone from each line or something).

I love this move. Duco gets to play against his old team. Now he has twice the motivation to play well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Duco also automatically becomes the best fighter on the team. People worry about his antics, but he's one guy that can back it up pretty well against non-heavies I think.

He backs up his antics and has more than once paid the price for them, but he's not the best fighter. Weise and Bieksa are better fighters.

Edit: I'd put him on par with Lapierre. Not the biggest or toughest, but is more than willing to go and can hold his own. But once the weight class goes up, it probably will be pretty one-sided.

I never count Bieksa anymore, we all know he can fight...but it happens maybe once a season. I was under the impression Duco could handle himself better then Weise, who outside of last night has looked just awful when the gloves come off (credit his effort and willingness though).

Of course when he was picked up by Vancouver it was a different story. He deleted the above tweets but on this interweb thingie they live on.

Just another no talent mouthy idiot who starts things that other players have to finish. Did we learn noting from Matt Cooke's antics?.

I am not impressed. Should have let him rot in the AHL.

Duco will be instantly one of the more willing combatants on the team. He's backed up most of his antics so far. In terms of fighting skill, don't expect much. He won't win many fights but at least he usually doesn't take a beating either. Due to his stocky nature and short reach, he tends to get in close, hold on tight, and fire off a couple shots dirty boxing style. Most cases, he will get over-powered though. From what I've seen he's a below average fighter in the NHL. To put it in perspective he's lost to Carcillo, Mike Brown, and Volpatti within the last couple years.
