Why not give Tokarski a cup of coffee? Never know he may stand on his head, and is the goalie of the future so no need to trade for a goalie in the off season.
I agree. Before we sell the farm for a goalie, I'd like to know what we have in our cupboards first.
And as for Schneider... I mean, if we could get Bugsy to waive his NMC that'd be great, but it won't happen. Honestly, the price is probably just too high right now. Downie is probably the most likely guy to be moved in a package for a goaltender (unless anyone wants Kubina), but he gives us some grit and good skill that we would be missing. Although that could open up a slot for Ashton on the big club...
So if Ohlund is done for good, does anybody think he'd actually retire, or would he force a buyout? He'd be leaving a whole lot of money on the table by retiring.

If Roloson and Kubina leave, that's a nice chunk of cash just between the 2 of them with $6.850 mil in cap space alone. Of all our UFAs and RFAs I can't really see anyone getting a big raise, so this could be a good chance to spend this offseason and fix up some big holes.

I think Yzerman will listen to offers for Moore as the deadline approaches, and if a nice one comes along, deal him and go after him again in the offseason. As we've seen before, plenty of teams will be willing to pay for what Moore offers. It's a risk, but for the right price it's worth it.

That also means not having Moore for the playoffs.
We'd be better off just leaving him on the roster and on LTIR, wouldn't we? Assuming he doesn't want to retire.
I would think that's the preferred way. If he passes, or rather doesn't pass, the league physicals. If he stays on the roster on LTIR, no cap hit, but salary still paid, correct? Or do I have that mixed up?

For some reason I don't think that will be a problem...
Moore, Downie, and Wyman/Hall as F, and Gilroy probably back. I don't know about Clark, even as a bottom pairing guy. I think there are probably better bottom pairing guys available that I'd rather not waste the roster spot/money on him.
Plus, you have to think next year Ashton gets a shot on the big club. What does that mean for Downie, though? Does that make him more expendable as trade bait?
We have quite a few players to upgrade before we get to Downie. Guess I forgot the
Loyalty is important in any team sport, especially with the superstar's room mate. I think Yzerman realizes that and should be rightfully upgrading the defensemen, goaltending and overall team defense, hence the Pyatt signing.

But you can also take it too far. (see Hurricanes, Carolina)
For the love of God bring up Tokarski. This season is killing me enough having to look at those pathetic half assed "uniforms" and "logos", and I have to watch their awful play match their awful unis?

Give me a break! Bring up Tick!
It's for this reason that I sort of don't want to trade Tokarski.
The opportunity to yell "Spoon!" after a big save doesn't happen every day.
Coincidentally, Roloson's battle cry this season has been "Not in the face! Not in the face!".
