Kaberle puts up almost a point per game for us and people leave him out? Only on Montreal can a defender put up almost a ppg and be omitted from somebodies line up

His defensive game isn't the best but come on he's no MA Fleury.

Markov - 20 minutes per game
If you play Markov 20 mins a night purely 5 on 5 and PP I don't see how you could lose many games. The guy is a borderline guaranteed goal per game. Obviously I'm referring to his massing skills not just him getting the goals. I think with Markov, Kaberle, Subban, Gorges, Emelin, Diaz all healthy our D looks good. If we could make Diaz a #7 and sign a nasty #6d in the summer we'll be set.

Weber for a 2nd

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Kaberle - Diaz
Gill

Subban should also be kept off the 1st PP line, his shot isn't what it used to be and is costing us way too many plays.
Subban is way too important on even strength to waste on a third pairing. He and Gorges are the only really good 5 on 5 defenseman Montreal has right now. Any chemistry Emelin and Diaz may or may not have isn't worth playing Diaz over Subban.

Markov-Gorges
Emelin-Subban

Could work as a top 4.

Well, not to nitpick, but, on his example, Subban was on the 2nd pairing, with Gorges

+1, totally agree with you.
Common Kaberle is playing good for us, and people want him out of the lineup. The thread is about making the lineup with a healthy team. And in a healthy team, am absoluetly sure that kaberle has a spot in the 6-defensman. i would do it like this for the defensman:
Markov-Emelin
Georges-Subban
Kaberle-Gill/Diaz rotate depending on the opponent. If gill is not playing, markov/emelin/georges/subban can carry the penalty kill load and diaz would give the offensive punch with kaberle on 5vs5 hockey, in addition our pp units on the d would be (1) markov-subban (2) kaberle-diaz
If the opponent has a strong pp and offensively strong 5vs5 we play gill so he can help on the pk and pp units would be markov-subban/ kaberle-emelin
thats my opinion in an ideal scenario!

Because any player with a contract resembling Gomez, Gio or Cammy sucks

We were paying Hammer 5 mil per when the cap was lower.

We're now paying a younger Kaberle 4 mil per... I don't see how a near ppg D even if he is a #6 is overpaid at 4 mil. Yeah he's more of an offensive specialist but he hasn't hurt the team much defensively either. His offense more than outweighs his D.

With everyone back (not including Markov who will probably not play this year), does Cunneyworth still go with 7 Ds?

Although I like what he's doing, I don't think he can.

My lines :

Eller-AK-MaxPac (Could be a crazy good line... Max can finish a lot better than Moen)
Plek-Cammy-Cole (Should be a very good line but...)
DD-Gomez-Gionta (Smurfs... not crazy about this line but Gomez has to be top 9)
Moen-White-Darche (Real 4th line)

Subban-Gorges
Emelin-Diaz
Campoli-Kaberle

So no Markov?
