Love how Sutter pulled doughty and Johnson together before the Kings PP. Probably told them to move the ****ing puck faster. Three quick passes and a goal on the PP.

Kings get more shots from the middle. Score goals. Win.

Wonder if it had more to do with Washington being terrible on defense or if the Kings pushed the play.

Let's see this type of game more consistently. I was pumped after the Vancouver game and the Kings scored 2 goals in three games on 91 shots.

Go Kings!

The awful part is the Kings have been taking care of getting points at an insane clip.

They are still one point behind San Jose (San Jose still has FIVE Games in hand).

What a Hole the Kings dug themselves with Murray.

Still believe in the roster. Just want to see consistent play in the middle and crashing of the net.

11-0 when scoring three goals.

Los Angeles Kings Title Chances
Beat Washington 5-2, playoff odds up 9.9 to 56.5%
49 points * 21 15-7

sure. I just get kinda annoyed when people use their record as some kind of barometer, rather than pts.

If you count a shootout win as a win, then count a shootout loss as a loss. 7-1-3 is 7-4.

Sutter reminds me of that overall-clad cajun from the Waterboy. I understand about 1 in 9 words. Thank God for my DVR. At least the guys aparently understand him. That's what's important.

30th ranked offense ring a bell? 1.7 per game with Sutter before tonight.

Let's see if the Kings can follow up tonight's game with more than 1 goal or 2 goals in three games.

Except the NHL uses points instead of wins and losses.

If it makes you feel better, more power to you.

Even if you want to use the 7-4, that's a .636 win percentage and good for 52 wins over the entire season. What's wrong with that?

I don't even think our record is indicative of how well we've been playing. All four of those losses were one goal games and in three (Winnipeg, Colorado, Columbus) the opposing goaltender was the first star of the game. Versus the Sharks Niemi was the 2nd star. Goaltenders have had to stand on their heads for teams to beat us, by and large.

The overwhelming mentality seems to be that the wheels are going to fall off and we'll start losing because of our offense. Hasn't happened yet. Why try to predict rain from the basement when you can look out the window and see clear skies?

I know they do, I wish they would get rid of the loser point. Teams wouldn't play for overtime (Kings).

It should be wins and losses. The loser point makes the standings tighter and creates a better illusion of parity.

That's ok But the Kings are 500... No matter how you slice it.

I've been stoked as well. It's been an uproar around here because of the fact that they just haven't been able to score many goals, when they have the talent to score. Quick and Bernier, more so Quick, can only do so much. Add in the fact the pathetic effort during the Columbus game and that will get people in an uproar.
If they were scoring 3+ goals a game, than there wouldn't be an uproar. It's efforts like tonight you think, "They should be playing like that EVERY game.". There's no reason they can't or shouldn't.

Kings are still 9th in points percentage. 7-1-3 and they are still on the bubble of getting the 8th seed.

11-0 when scoring 3 goals. Only 11 out 43 games with three goals.

Will the Kings continue at a 0.773 points percentage? Not likely.

I'm happy Murray is gone and it shows the team was dead if he stayed.

Games like tonight and the Saturday game against Vancouver gives renewed hope for this roster. Let's see at least three more goals against Dallas.

Have the Kings had back-to-back game with 3+ yet? I don't think they have.

You have to go back to October They beat Philly 3-2(OT) then Crushed the Blues 5-0. Then December they beat Toronto 3-2 (SO though) Then Ducks 3-2 (Another SO I think though).

That's it ....

The only consistent so far is the Kings not Scoring, and Quick playing out of his mind. Have to reverse the scoring part.

The problem is really that they're digging themselves out of a hole. The adage that points at the start of the season are just as valuable as at the end gets overused but it's so true.

I wiped the slate clean for this team when DS came in and as a result I've been happy. To me it's two separate seasons and they've been outstanding in this one. There are always points and playoffs to be concerned with but realistically speaking pushing into the playoffs from outside the bubble takes time and patience. This team has earned that with their recent play and like you said, they have their moments when they show that they're capable of being elite and all you can really do is hope that they put it together for an extended stretch.

Really though, it's a little too early for this team to catch fire and overachieve. 17/22 points is fine if the alternative is 20/22 now and a monumental collapse later. I think it was 03-04 when the Kings got hot in January and then lost their last ten or so games down the stretch.

Hopefully breaking out with 5 goals loosens some of their grip on their sticks and they play a bit more relaxed and controlled game with the puck henceforth.
