Now is the time for Hemsky to shine.

No matter how well he plays we're still very likely to lose... but he's gotta pump his trade value up so that some more valuable teams want him so that he can have a decent playoffs and get a good contract next year.

Gooooo Hemsky!

Dustin Penner is that you?

Very glad to hear that it's not months for Eberle.

Bravo! It's about time someone said something. Getting sick of the constant Oilers bashing with regards to injuries. It seems only the Oilers get bashed for it. Remember when Teubert got injured while with the LA organization. He was misdiagnosed.

It probably seems that way because that's all you read is stuff about the Oilers.

It's kinda like the blender, teams sending prospects to the AHL, teams giving their top prospects top minutes etc...

We aren't the only team that does these things.

From what I read in the paper this morning it sure seems that they're just being extra cautious with Eberle. Eberle is saying that the knee isn't even bothering him and it'll be really tough to sit and watch for an extended period of time.

this is just the final umm, nail in the coffin for this season.

oh well, another season of "exciting last place hockey", except this year it's without the exciting part (at least until the kids get back in the lineup).

here's a tune for HFOil in the meantime thats apropos

Apparently, Eberle was left off the All-Star game roster due to his injury but according to Bob McKenzie the Oilers were told that if he and Nuge were healthy both would have made it. Okay...

Considering that Eberle is only expected to miss 2-3 weeks this is an absolute travesty. If Claude Giroux was fighting an injury right now he'd still be selected. Without question.

Oh well, the All-Star game is a joke anyway and this just gives me another reason to hate the NHL.

Someone on twitter mentioned if Eberle was a NY Ranger, he would have been picked. Seems it depends who you play for to get picked not how many points you have.

Well 2-3 weeks would put his return right around the all-star break. I doubt the Oilers would want him to go to the all star game as his first game back only to re injure it. They remember that all too well, the last time Horcoff was useful was when he went to the All star game and hurt his shoulder.

Yes and "Someone on Twitter" is a trusted source for hockey news. I could say anything on twitter but it doesn't make it true.

Sounds like a good call. Put him on growth hormones and get him into the gym to pump iron. There's no time for hockey - eat, sleep and lift - and we'll finally have our power forward.

Just at the airport and in the waiting area was Jordan Eberle. Good sign he's on the trip and just maybe a chance he'll play Tues or Thurs.

Hallalujah!!!

I wonder if Gene has any info to back this up, or is only speculating. Although I guess it makes sense that if he's on the road trip there's probably a chance he could play.

Would seem odd to take him unless he is close. Unless the following is true:

1- Eberle likes to site see and is going to see what CBJ and STL has to offer.
2- Maybe he is a couple weeks away, but wants to watch live hockey.
3- Maybe he is a couple weeks away, but he/team want him to skate with the team.
4- The team forgot that he is injured.
5- Eberle wants to get the **** out of Edmonton as it's -30.

That should be a good enough reason for anyone.

Hope to see him back soon. Thursday is reasonable. He was injured on the 7th, so the 18th would be 2 weeks. He might also just be on the trip to get in on game day skates and any practices that might be happening.

I think he'll probably just come back on Saturday against the Flames.
