Tony Marinaro: Geoff Molson met with Serge Savard last week
As per Tony Marinaro's twitter account, Geoff Molson met with Serge Savard last week and it might possibly be about replacing Pierre Gauthier in the summer or getting advice on who to hire as the GM etc.
Would you guy's want to see Serge Savard as the GM in Montreal again?
I do not want him as the GM, but as a consultant.
Maybe he don't know every players like in the past, but he can certainly help the GM to build a competitive team. For example, right now he would tell the GM that his team is ****ing soft, please bring some toughness !!!

this is what i think too
he good pass on a couple of things or to the next GM but he wouldn't do well as GM
the game is just so different now
I'm sure Savard has absolutely no interest in coming back as a GM at his age -- EDIT: I thought he was older than he is, disregard this! Still, Savard is smart, he knows he's out of touch with the league at this point. It would only tarnish everything his hard earned reputation as one of the greatest Montreal Canadiens. It was probably more of an advice session. Savard was GM through some amazing years, but also through a few bad years of the Habs and had to make tough choices too.
He is 63 and hasn't been in part of the league in a while. Good for Molson to try to get advice from someone with experience, I know a lot of ppl give Molson a hard time not kinda throwing RW under the bus, and PG too since PG hired him. But he is a very young owner and is learning.
If I remember correctly Savard was planning on being a part of an ownership group that was looking to buy the Habs a few summers ago, but he said once he knew the Molson were looking at buying the Habs he withdrew out respect for the family. So I guess they are very close.
You don't get it at all do you? Dinner? Really? This is an amazing time to go into speculative rampage. Grab the opportunity! Just like when Subban threw his clothes on the floor of the dressing room and Gill called him out on it! Extrapolate! And if someone comes out with a crazy theory, you one-up him and out-crazy him.

And that, my friends, is how you get back in the game.
To anyone who wants Savard back as GM.... do you remember how disinterested he was in his last year or so as a GM of the Habs?
When things go wrong it is standard operating procedure to trot out old memories of glory to distract the population from the lack of results. Bringing old Habs back is often that, just distracting the fans from the fact that the team seems directionless.
Roy for GM. Young blood, winner, crazy and would fix the toughness problem on this team right away.
Roy said he has less than zero interest in being an NHL GM. He only wants to coach.
Also with regards to Savard, I'd rather sign him to play on the blueline. Anything to get rid of Campoli and Gill. Otherwise no thanks, he's old and ****.
