“We’re walking a thin line. We always want to keep things simple and work hard, but we have to make things happen, play hockey, you know”
“it would be too easy to say we need to shoot more [on the PP] and put guys in front of the net”
“a shot should be the result of a good play, not just the objective”
He doesn't seem too fond of Randy's message or tactics. He really makes it sound like Randy isn't much for Xs and Os and is more of a "hard work and grit" type coach, a la Carbonneau.
Cammy's ice has been over 18mins only once since RC took over. His average last season was 18:28, this season is 18:03. He's definitely seen a decrease.

Wasn't the criticism of Jacques that he's an Xs and Os type?
But why would you reward a guy who has been playing like complete crap?
Maybe he'd get more minutes if he actually gave an effort out there. Right now, he's bringing nothing to the team. Honestly, he's been entering Scott Gomez territory.
It's not a reward, the guy is being paid to play a lot. Even if he has a bad stretch, when you remove his ice time, it's a punishment. It's not a reward for him to get ice time, it's an expectation.
There is nothing wrong with what Cammy said, and I'd be just as pissed if I were in his place. When I see guys like Darche and Blunden play up to 14min at times, it's overly frustrating.
Sure, he's not playing that well, but isn't that what almost every player that supposed to score says? Play me more and I will score more. Didn't Andrei say the same thing? Didn't Tanguay as MM said? Pretty sure Kovalev said something along those lines as well no?
We are not scoring goals. I don't care how bad a year he's having, play the guy that is supposed to score the goals more.
If we were winning and playing well, then it'd be different, but we're not.
Cammy may not "deserve" more ice time... but the teams goal (coach and players) is to win the game... wich is something Cammy can do for your team with one or two shots on net...
Darche couldnt do that even in his dreams...
True but many times, goals against us was the result of a missed check or lazy backchecking from Cammy.
Darche, Blunden, and Nokie at least give the effort to backcheck and win battles along with boards..

Yeah, hard work & grit, i wonder why Cammy isn't too fond of RC's message.
It's obvious for us to note that the team is playing like ****, but it would have been better coming from someone who was performing...I think coming from him, since he is ******** the bed night in night out, there's a bigger issue at hand. It's okay to blame the team, but you have to prove that you can perform, which he hasn't done sadly...

well, we know already that even when trying hard, he is not good defensively...
so, maybe not having him on a like with Plekanec (who takes lots of tough defensive assignments) would be a start...
or if it's OK to give "soft" minutes to DD, have him play with him so he doesnt get exposed defensively...
cause the strategy we're supposed to have, wich is a 2 man forecheck... sure is not going to work with a 5'8 Cammy and 5'7 Gionta on the same line (centered by a not much bigger C)...
Like i was saying earlier in the year ! Darche doesnt deserve the minute he is getting ! He wouldnt even be able to make the St Lou roster yet plays on our PP ! What a farce this team has become. Cammy wants to play 25 min. and i bet he would be way more motivated if he got them.
He got his 25 minutes per game when Martin was coach, and he was as awful as he is now. He doesn't deserve to play that many minutes when he's awful defensively and can't produce anything offensively.
Who cares if he thinks he needs more ice time to score? If he can't make a single good play in an entire shift, how would that encourage the coach to play him more? There hasn't been any indication that he will play better with more minutes if he can't play for a few.
What a rat!! What a disgusting person.. Shame on him!! 0 pride to wear the Jersey, the guy is probably unhappy to pay high taxes.. I say trade him where the taxes are even higher..

Him, DD, and Leblanc was working when they tried it.
not hard to "read btw the lines" as he suggests. He's blaming everyone but himself for his poor play...
nothing worse than the last part, where he "acknowledges" his defensive mistake that led to a goal and then clarifies his thinking with a "BUT... I normally play a lot more and I hadn't played a lot that night when I made the mistake".
If PG had any sense, and any balls, Cammy would be out the door asap.
definition of a "cancer" type player. hard to win with guys like that, who resort to pointing fingers (and if you mistake the "nous" he uses as him taking accountability, you miss the point he is clearly and strongly trying to make.
and clearly Cammy knows what he is doing. THe guy is one of the most media-saavy players in the league.
Making the comments the way he did (Assuming that the translation is accurate and that the article was not made worse by the writer) clearly indicate that he has no desire to stay in montreal...

Knowing us... we'll trade him to Toronto for some nobody who was just on waivers like Orr + 7th.
Then he'll rack up a 65pt season by the end of the season
I just get a bad feeling about it. If we trade him we're getting fleeced, he'll find his magic on Toronto or Calgary.
That's the Montreal curse.
We want to get rid of players as soon as they struggle. Heck, we even wanted to trade Plek a few weeks ago. We crucified Cole in the first 10 games or so. Patience is not in the dictionary of this fanbase.
If the GM listens to the fans, he'll trade a struggling player quickly and get crap in return all the time. Do people really think we'll get a gamebreaker player for Cammy right now? Seriously!
