Ales Hemsky "100% available"

Said it on NHL Live. Just to reinforce what has already been discussed; any Oiler fans think he'll be traded?

What would it take to get him to Montreal?

Its hard to know. Him being available is different than him being available for a reasonable price. If I recall correctly, he's actually friends with Katz (owner) too, so it might inflate his value to the team. I am guessing if there is a way for the Oil to get a first and a prospect or young roster player out of Hemsky, the Oil will take it (even if that ends up being a roster player and a late first for Hemsky and our 3rd or something). I would be surprised if he is traded for anything less than just a first round pick though.

I'd be very surprised if he is dealt before the deadline, Tambellini takes months to make up his mind on deals. The one thing that could scuttle a trade is the big injury problems for the oilers.

This will be a very interesting deal in any case value wise. Peoples thoughts on his value wobble all over the map. No matter what he gets dealt for 1/2 the forum will be yelling overpay! and the other half will be yelling underpay!

Why would Montreal want him? They aren't in the playoff hunt and Hemsky is a UFA this summer. Don't burn the assets the Oil would need (like your first, or Beaulieu or Tinordi and a 2nd) to get him, sign him on July 1 if you want him when he is available.

As an oiler fan this is actually the place I think he will end up. Cost? Who knows. The oilers like Tinordi I've heard.

I imagine most teams in need of wingers will look into it if they haven't already. I know the Jets will, but I'm not sure we necessarily have the assets.

None of those pieces get Hemsky. The Oil can't really do a deal like this, they are too close to the contract limit. Combine the value of the three pieces, and that's what the Oilers want in one piece (2 if one is a pick).

Lots of teams could use him for a playoff push or cup run. Pittsburgh fans seem to hate the thought of getting him. I'd hope Minnesota doesn't re-sign him if they get him...they kill us enough without another former Oiler lighting us up.

I have no doubt he's available, but I think Edmonton wants at minimum a 1st and a good prospect.

Someone will overpay for him and be disappointed greatly. I could see him getting a first plus a mid level prospect from a desperate team like Minnesota

I don't think Tambellini would have dropped his price either. So think something like Blum or Josi and a first from Nashville, Voynov and a first from LA...that sort of deal. Don't know if that gets done or not.

There's no way Nashville would pay a price like that. Not for Hemsky. The first? Maybe. Blum or Josi? No.

tell me something I don't know. I'd say they try and get the best dman prospect they can get for him, no picks, just straight up for a young dman with good upside or a good d prospect.

To dallas for Fistric and a pick ??

Give the young oilers a hard hitting defenseman. not sure what value the pick should be as hes UFA..maybe a 2nd or 3rd depending on if Dallas makes the playoffs...

No surprise really. Wonder if many teams will go after him given his injury history.

I do. I think his attitude is getting to the point where the team looks at moving him.

He'll score 2 goals on Sunday against the Kings, the Kings will fall in love and he'll be having breakfast at Penner's house Tuesday morning. The Oilers will receive 2 #1s and Hemsky will be on IR by Friday.

That's about the best scenario I can come up with.

Hemsky is done. He's damaged goods and NOBODY is gonna offer these crazy packages people are asking for. He'll fetch a mid grade prospect or a 3rd round pick. By the deadline, if he's playing better, maybe a 2nd. This isnt Marian Hossa.
