Back spasms do suck, I can vouch for that one. And pancakes are delicious, especially banana chocolate chip ones with a side of fresh whipped cream. OH GOD, my mouth just got moist...

I'm seriously in. I like the pancakes at John O'Groats best though.

there are some jokes that just right themselves when this stuff happens. The only good thing is IF the Kings want to resign him in the off season they will be able to do it for maybe 1mill a year the way he is going this year.

No way in Hell he is re-signed. I think you're looking at a guy who is career is winding down and will be out of the NHL pretty quickly. Some guys don't have heart and when you couple that with millions in the bank it gets bad fast. It's over Johnny, it's over!

Agreed. Besides... he will NOT be resigned for 1M. At the end of the season we can create a poll with his projected cap hit.

An open letter from Penner re: Pancakegate

Quote:
So it seems as though I need to address Pancakegate for those in the sports media world, as well as those following #pennercakes on twitter, in light of the recent phenomenon I've created.

Right off the bat, I'd like to clarify a few things.

For example, they were vegetarian pancakes. The injury happened as I was sitting down to eat, not mid-bite. And yes, I did finish them.

There has been some feedback from the media as a whole regarding the lack of transparency involving injuries. So, I decided to be candid.
Back spasms suck.

Can't say I blame him. He's 29 years old, millions in the bank, living in LA. Why keep playing pro hockey and risk a serious injury?

Life is good for Dustin Penner right now.

Where do you buy a shirt like that? I bet they have puffy shirts too, I would've went that route.

I was checking Penner's stats lately and I have a question for you guys: is he playing on the 4th line?

And according to you, what happened to that goal scorer we used to fear from Anaheim and Edmonton?

He spent some time on the third line with Murray, but most of his play has been on the second line, a little bit on the first. Early on he had looked disinterested and sluggish. He still does at times, but has been a lot better for a good amount this season.

It's debatable over why he isn't producing. Personally, I think he is being utilized incorrectly. He has always been someone that scores goals around the net and by driving to the net, but he has been more of a perimeter player in LA, working and sniping along the boards.

I think if we plant him in front of he net like Smyth was in the past, his numbers would rebound. He has been a proven goal scorer throughout his entire career in both Anaheim and Edmonton, especially when Edmonton was the worst team in the league... The problem isn't entirely Penner's, we need to re-assess our strategy with him.
