Kulmin is our only forward with size that knows how to use it which is what Burke is shopping for. I doubt he is the bait being used to lure another sizable forward with skill. I expect a D-man for a forward trade to happen.

Don't know if it's been mentioned already in here, came straight to the last page, but Dustin Leeds Facebook page has been insinuating Flyers are discussing L.Schenn with the Leafs.

Also a high end penalty killing forward, ideally with play off experience or better yet a cup ring.

Never! Schenn is far 2 valuable, and JVR is overrated. If u want Schenn start with Couturier and add. Schenn is proven talent. Couturier is not.

The main problem with that trade (beyond the fact that I don't think Toronto is prepared to trade Schenn unless it's for a centre), is that it doesn't work in isolation.

Let's say they do this trade -- they're now left with Kessel, Lupul, Kulemin, MacArthur, JvR and Armstrong all under control next year. That leaves no spot for Kadri, Lombardi, and burns an extremely valuable defensive asset without getting a centre. Sure, they could then try to flip wingers for a centre, but Toronto has some resemblance to a winning team. Is it really worth blowing the entire thing up?

They problably should, but don't exactly have a ton to give up. If it can be done for Komisarek+...then forsure. Other than that I don't think the Leafs want to substantially increase their age.

Then why is the "proven talent" average 6 min less per game this season?

Perhaps he's not depended on as much this season? Phaneuf missed alot of last season so Schenn was used during his absence. Leafs also added JML, Gardiner and Franson so those minutes are gonna have to be used at the expense of someones elses. Makes sense that his ice time would be lower.

25 points and 10 goals -- he's progressing to his first decent season. I'll give hime this -- at least he finally cracked the lineup.

Minutes greater last year because of injuries makes sense, but he is still averaging 6th in ATOI for the defense. Also, 6th in even strength ATOI and 5th in SH ATOI. It doesn't pass the sniff test.

IMO the reason he doesn't have more TOI is because wilsons system does not play nice with shutdown D.

No Flyer fan is going to tell you JVR is playing near expectations this year after his dominant performance in the playoffs. I think we are all a little disappointed about his lack of production.

Well...hopefully we'll get to see what Kulie can do in the playoffs this year.

Gleason for instance (available per multiple rumors). Very comparable player and won't cost as much.
If you thjink Gleason is comparable to Schenn, feel free to check out the pure hate for Gleason on the Cane's board.

I'm more dissapointed with the fact that he's playing through an injury. Just get the friggin surgery and be ready for the playoffs

Actually he is on pace for 50 as he has missed time. He averaged 0.62 points a game in a the games he's played, that ratio multiplied by remaining team games (41) plus his current points puts him just shy of 50.

Not to mention he has been injured all year long, playing through it, once healthy I feel he'll put up big points.

If you think the "injury" claims are just protective claims, do me a favour and watch him play, and watch the grimace on his face.
