Quote:
May 2, 1987 -- In Game 7 at Philly, captain Dave Poulin's inspirational leadership was rewarded in the Flyers' convincing 5-1 home win. Poulin donned a flak jacket to protect broken ribs and assisted on two first period goals in his series debut and it was his lone appearance in a 12-game stretch from mid-April to mid-May. Flyers' head coach Mike Keenan said of Poulin "It was a tremendous gesture by him." Flyers' trainer Dave Settlemyre said "We tried it (painkiller), but it didn't really take. He was in a lot of pain. He played on guts." The Flyers dominated the opening period 3-0 in goals and 18-8 in shots. Lindsay Carson's goal was disallowed when the net was jarred from its moorings but about a minutes later Dave Brown's tip-in made it 1-0. Then during a minor to Carson, Brian Propp (1-1-2) and Brad Marsh scored SHGs 44 seconds apart. Ilkka Sinisalo (2-0-2), scoreless in limited action in the 1987 POs, tallied twice in the third period. Like Poulin, Brad McCrimmon (0-2-2) and Peter Zezel (0-2-2) also had two assists. Ron Hextall, who made 22 saves, lost his shutout bid with 53 seconds to play. Kelly Hrudey made 29 stops.

Dont think you can sit Harry Z after his good game last game. Read-Couturier-Harry Z actually made some offense happen compared to Zac on that line.

Bob = 9-4, 2.45, .919

I'm afraid if Bob gets more starts his stats will start to look like Bryz's, and then your in big trouble. This sounds like the Redskins of this year (replacing the crappy grossman for beck with a winning record, had Beck fail and then went back to grossman with the season lost) or the capitals goalie problems a few years ago. I think the best thing to do is just weather the storm for a few more weeks, they are still in a great position in the east sitting at #4 and threatening for the #1 spot. I hear you guys complaining about how bad the defense is, and when i watch it seems like Bryz get's 1-2 VERY unlikely goals every single game that i don't see how you can blame it on him.. crazy deflections and bounces can rarely be stopped. You can argue that he could be in better position, but come on.. the defense is horrible. You guys are probably stuck with Bryz, he needs to work here. Why would anyone trade for him?!?!? You can't sign a goalie to an outrageous contract and have him sitting on the bench.

if we don't totally dominate this game, we may have a problem

If Bryz fails again, Bob will be pissed too because he deserves to start.

Also the so called "weak opponent" beat the Red Wings 5:1 in their last game. Flyers better not let them go on a winning streak.

Gustafsson will replace Lilja. Right?

Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr
Talbot - Briere - Voracek
JVR - Schenn - Simmonds
Zolnierczyk - Couturier - Read

Timonen - Coburn
Carle - Bourdoun
Gustafsson - Meszaros

Bobrovsky/Bryzgalov

God, healthy Pronger would make this lineup look SC worthy.

You are right, and you are wrong.

He's been bad no doubt, I wouldnt say the Flyers are "stuck" with him though. They want him here, thats why he's got a long deal. Everyone that thinks his first 30 games in a Flyers jersey will amount to his career here is ignorant and near sighted.

And yes, yes they can have him sitting on the bench. It goes to show that on this team it doesnt matter how much you make, if you arent playing well, you wont play. Period. Bryz hasnt played better then Bob, so why exactly is he supposed to be entitled to play? Because he makes 4 Million more?
