So if Avery were picked up on re-entry waivers would his contract be halfed again?

ex. Dallas covers half of original contract... Rangers cover half of half a contract while mystery team covers the other half of a half contract?

Remember the good ole days when people said the same about why the Leafs would never employ Peca and Tucker at the same time?

how many more yrs does Colton Orr have on his deal, if its 1 yr at 1 million he would be ok in the minors

perhaps Finger as his contract expires this yr

Pretty sure a "sloppy seconds" comment about one's wife kinda trumps that. Just sayin'.

Avery would be the worst thing that could happen to the Leafs.
Right now our lockerroom is strong and they gel nicely.

Avery would fit in a situation where a team needs to sell tickets or a spark.

Carcillo just went down for the season, so the Hawks might be interested.

In the issue another team, hypothetically claimed Avery on re-entry waivers, I believe Dallas covers half, the Rangers 1/4 and the claiming team would over the other 1/4.

He's not going to the Oilers. After he sucker-punched Smid and half the team wanted him dead, they didn't want him. With a team full of impressionable young players, they really don't want him.

He's not going to the Leafs. After the Dion Phaneuf incident, along with Brian Burke's repeated disdain for rats, why would they want him?

And yes, that would put Avery and Lapierre on the same line.

Burke hates rats as long s they play on other teams. NHL players have short and faulty memories, they hate players but if Avery went to Edmonton all would be forgiven whether it should be or not.

Sensitive much? These guys are grown men who have said a lot worse things to and about one another on the ice. Get over it. It was a dumb comment and he shouldn't say things like that to the media keep it on the ice, but don't act like some choir boy who doesn't realize that at times grown men act like kids and throw insults at each other.

For christs sake man, a player asked Subban if he slipped on a banana peel You think he won't ever play on a team with a black player now?

Ok...lets forget that Avery was an A-hole to Phaneuf. Lets just go with Avery is an A-hole period. No, i'm not sensative at all, just don't want Avery on the Leafs as he doesn't improve the team...OK?

Why would Burke add a guy who takes the dumbest penalties to a team with the worst PK?

So how would this work for his salary. Dallas pays 2 million Rags 1 million and team x 1 million? Or does Dallas get their cap space back and it's split between the rags and team x.

Have to think it is a team that lost a forward since he was last on waivers.

So...Penguins?

8 possible scenarios for Sean Avery...

Avery to Vancouver for Steve Reinprecht (signed through 2011/2012 @ $2,175,00/$2,050,000 cap hit)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... Vancouver conditionally adds 2012 6th round round pick
Avery picked up = WASH
Reinprecht assigned to Hartford

Avery to Buffalo for Shoane Morrison (signed through 2011/2012 @ $2,075,00/$2,075,000 cap hit)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... Buffalo conditionally adds a 2012 6th round pick
Avery picked up = WASH
Morrison assigned to Hartford

Avery to Toronto for Jeff Finger (signed through 2011/2012 @ $3,500,00/$3,500,000 cap hit)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... Toronto conditionally adds a 2012 5th round pick
Avery picked up = WASH
Finger assigned to Hartford

Avery to NYIsles for AHLer Jeremy Colliton (or goonguy Trevor Gillis ? - nah just kidding)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... NYIsles add their 2012 7th round pick
Avery picked up = NYR add future considerations
Colliton to Hartford

Sean Avery to Carolina for the rights to Oskar Osala (now playing in the KHL)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... Carolina adds their 2012 7th round pick
Avery picked up = WASH

Sean Avery to Montreal for AHL (prospect) Alain Berger (signed at $666,667 for 2 more years)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... Montreal adds their 2012 7th round pick
Avery picked up = WASH

Sean Avery to Edmonton for Darcy Hordichuk (signed through 2011/2012 @ $850,000/$850,000 cap hit)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... Edmonton adds their 2012 6th round pick
Avery picked up = WASH
Hordichuk to Hartford

Sean Avery to Chicago for AHL prospect Simon Danis-Pepin (signed at $850.000 - RFA at end of year)
If Avery clears re-entry, then... Chicago adds their 2012 7th round pick
Avery picked up = NYR add future considerations

Sound about right?
I could see (and would like to see) any of these 8 "deals" things go down.
Possibly the whole Phaneuf/sloppy 2nd servings ordeal eliminates The Leafs though???
Edmonton have also had some bad blood with Sean.
The Islanders are a slim possibility within the division, however one can definitely rule out Pittsburgh (NYR would not take a chance here imo).
Vancouver, Carolina, Chicago, Buffalo & Montreal (if anybody really wants our "bad boy") are not out of the question though...

This possibly also strengthens The Whale.
Maybe adds NYR a lower pick if all works out
No assets are lost - at least not what we were going to use due to our record & logjam of bottom 6 alternatives at FWD.
Its just Dolans money.
Gives Avery a chance to play. He has proven he deserves one and worthy of the NHL, but NO RE-ENTRY WAIVERS will be tried again by NYR. Forget it.
Avery is very motivated and will have value to an NHL club willing to take a flyer...
See - everybody is happy... except maybe Dallas

Let's compile a list of NHL teams that do not have players who have had been involved in physical and/or verbal altercations with Sean Avery.

Its definitely the Penguins. They are in a rut and need a boost of anything to get them going again. Of course Sather isn't going to hand him over to a rival.
