Lundqvist, Girardi and Gaborik named to NHL All Star Game

Quote:
The Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers had three players selected -- goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, defenseman Dan Girardi and forward Marian Gaborik.

So, I guess Hags doesn't make the rookie challenge or whatever it's called? That's too bad.

Nice to see 3 guys go. I think I would have preferred they rest, but whatever it's not like the events are physically demanding.

The article doesn't address rookie challenge. Perhaps later today.

He didn't. Here's the full rosters listed for both the game and the rookies participating in the skills competition.

As happy as I am for our guys to go, I would have rather had them rest for the few days off.

I have to admit, as a guy who wasn't the biggest Girardi fan in the world, I'm extremely happy for him. He has been tremendous all season and it's nice that he's getting some recognition for it. He deserves to be there.

Really wanted to see Hagelin in the fastest skater competition, but real proud of the boys especially Girardi.

I bet Gaborik ends up on a different team than Hank and snipes him

Hagelin should have made it with this rookie class easily. Justin Faulk? Lol.

Girardi has been better than him but I would have preferred MDZ for the All-Star game and skills competition, his game is more suitable for that.

I would doubt it, at least for RNH, as he is the Oilers only rep.

So happy for all three, but especially Girardi, who's contributions are often overlooked and under appreciated by the mainstream.

Carolina needed a rep since their team sucks and no one else is going.

And not to mention, as a Ranger fan living in New Jersey, it is a pretty sweet feeling seeing ZERO Devils on the All Star roster

Justin Faulk is going to be a damn good defenseman.

And unfortunately I couldn't see Hagelin make it over any of these guys.

This x1000

Although it is good that Girardi gets some recognition. But Hank and Gabby... they should "sprain" an ankle or "tweak" something the last game prior to the break.

Didn't Crosby do that one year?

So Courtier makes it with 7g 6a +9 in 37 games and Hags doesn't make it with 7g 5a +10 in 22 games? Oh right, Courtier is the name brand.

Look at 24/7 and all the attention he got on that show. I dont think Hagelin even got his name mentioned once. He's a good ol' CHL boy while Hagelin is from some odd euroland and went to college instead.

They should just decide who would go to an all-star game each year, and then not actually have one... because really, the only cool part about it is seeing who on your team gets the nod.
