Walker/Gustafsson

Per Flyers Facebook, Walker loaned to Phantoms, and Erik Gustafsson recalled

Yes, looks like he is finally going to step into the line-up over Lilja

Two rookies on a pairing seems like it would spell disaster.

Timonen-Coburn
Bourdon-Carle
Meszaros-Gustafsson

looks better to me.

Guess Bourdon goes out

Timonen-Coburn
Gleason-Carle
Meszaros-Gustafsson

Is Pronger really done for the Playoffs or is that a bluff by Homer to create cap space? Kind of like when Briere was out and the league forced Homer to put him back in the line-up before the trade deadline, leading to that Upshall-Carcillo trade so we could have cap space to keep Giroux in the line-up type move? because this.....

Timonen-Coburn
Pronger-Carle
Meszaros-Gleason

........is an insane defense to face in the playoffs. If Bryz sucked in front of that D, he should be shot on the spot.

Pronger's career is probably over

besides, if Pronger did come back, we wouldnt have the cap space available for Gleason

Is there a deadline that a player has to be on the active roster while coming back from an injury. I know there one for acquiring a player. Some sneaky backdoor move like having Pronger on the IR until the playoffs would be right up Homers alley (signing Bryz till 39, signing Pronger at age 34 instead of actually knowing the how CBA works, etc..)

there is no cap in the playoffs. so, sure, if Pronger was somehow healthy once the playoffs started and we acquired Gleason during the season, Pronger can play

but don't hold your breath

This is what I'd like to see as well.

While that is true, it's solid enough to not just go out and grab whatever dman comes our way. No need to overpay for a rental or go out and see what the other NHL teams left on the trash pile (think Krajicek).

I hope you are kidding? That 3rd pairing would be ripped. Time to send Bourdon down to the farm for more seasoning. I am looking forward to see Gustafsson back in the lineup.

I like Gus as much as anyone else in here, but he isn't what this team needs immediately. Sam Carchidi keeps saying it depends on how Gus does to see if the flyers go out and acquire a new D-man. We need a physical d-man now to prevent people from crashing the net unpunished. Gus just isn't gonna be that kinda of guy. I am excited to see how he does though... like others also have said he looked good before being injured and was playing almost 16 mins a night

Am I the only one who'd rather play Walker than Lilja?

Even though he is a ****...Carkner would be a good #6. Give us some protection and clearing the crease.

Carkner is a fantastic #6. Not only is he a heavy that cna throw them, he can also actually play the game as a serviceable 6th defenseman

No-hips Walker looked decent during camp and pre-season games, but the game is too fast for him nowadays. At least during the games Walker played, it was clear that Lilja was better. I think even Marshall played better than Walker, though that might just be because it is easier to overlook the shortcomings of, and mistakes made by, a young rookie d.

With Ottawa playing so well I don't see them moving any players out at the deadline. I think they will actually be buyers
