I started up a Jedi Knight yesterday to try out a Sentinel advanced class... but really, I'm tempted to go ahead and start a Warrior to play Marauder (virtually identical to how a Sentinel plays, as far as I understand). The story for the Sith is indeed supposed to be great.

I'll play them all, eventually.

Also played about four/five hours of the space combat last night. Advanced to level 39 with my Sage (level up to Telekinetic Throw!) The space combat feels very much like Rebel Assault. Simple shooter on rails. Surprisingly fun mini game.

If there is any universal rule of gaming, it is that all escort missions suck.

I'd add backtracking as well. The backtracking in SWTOR is monotonous. Not sure if its like that in all MMO's, but it can get pretty annoying when the quest giver tells you that you need to back to 'area x'. I'm guessing a vehicle will help with that. One of my characters has the training for it, but I don't have enough credits to buy one

Level 25. Yes, the mount helps a whole lot. One of the perks for the collector's and I think the deluxe editions was an included mount, with a 90% speed bonus. Some of the later expensive mounts give you 110 percent speed bonuses, and maybe more, but the base mount is not gimped all that much.

You still have to pay 40K credits for training, but at least you don't have a mount cost to bear. You definitely want to hold off on spending in the early levels to get your mount. After that, the credits start pouring in with higher credit rewards from quests and drops, but until 25, it's not terribly lucrative.

Money is easy now. But, the upgrades of mounts are pretty slim. When you factor in sprint and the force speed, it isn't that much of a gain.

Lot of walking though.

One advantage of playing a Shadow is that you can use stealth (or attempt to) and sneak by enemies on the way back

I just make sure to use the taxis and the hearthstone on its 30-minute cooldown judiciously. Rarely have to walk out of anywhere; I just warp home. I try to save it for the haul back. I also tend to grab all regional quests. I'm not doubling back a lot, or at least if I am, it's a long while before I head back in there. I do a circuit of a region's four or five quests, then turn them all in, and maybe head back into the area for two of them. Still, it's fairly efficient. There's no question that the mount saves a lot of travel time outside, though, and the taxis and warp even more. Taxis for intra-regional travel, not just between maps, help a ton.

Yeah, I never use QT until I'm sure everything in an area done

Same, pretty much. My experience once I actually started remembering to glance at the cooldown was that the half hour just flew by, and that the cooldown was actually much more reasonable, in terms of game time, than I assumed. Virtually every time I think to look over at the icon, it's free. It depends on how quickly you're trying to level and get off planet. I'm not racing through the main quest, but trying to clean out planets of the available, solo-able quests as much as possible. That might be part of it. I don't find I have to 'save' it very much.

Speaking of NHL12! Is it worth picking up over NHL11 for someone that mainly plays offline? New unis and rosters, but anything else worth while?

The only real difference in the games is the ability to crash the net and hit the goalie and the Winter Classic game mode which is cool but it isn't used in GM mode. Also the trading engine was tweaked a little bit but not much. Other than that there isn't much difference.

Couple of articles talking about tactics/combat in XCOM (the real XCOM, not the shooter)

In the dynasty thread someone said they traded for Kuznetsov in NHL12... Is he in the latest update that happened over this weekend?

On Tuesday morning finally gave up with SWTOR (boring, weak graphics/animation, BUGS!!, more).

Got home Wednesday night to an email inviting me to Diablo 3 beta.

I love this universe.

Game so far is phenomenal, have played 1 class through to completion of beta, another almost halfway through. No NDA...

Edit: Although, i did break 2 fingers and a bone in my hand Tuesday night. Guess that balances things out some.

Played much of the Kingdom of Amalur demo. Pretty cool. Graphics are nice.

I didn't enjoy the beginning cave part.
Didn't get to play much of outside, but i don't want to go through the beginning again.
Ill just stick with Skyrim and wait for Bioshock and Mass Effect 3.

As frustrating as PC issues, however brief, might actually be, there is nothing so satisfying as sitting down, thinking it through, and figuring it all out on your own through process of elimination. Especially if, like me, you aren't in any way in IT professionally. Only took about 20 minutes to diagnose and then easily solve a RAID SSD boot drive issue. No need to reinstall the OS, no data lost.

My friend worked on it. He's pretty proud. Looks pretty cool, and I've played a bit of it so far.

Hope it does well.

For better or for worse, I can't think about that title without immediately referring to it as, "that Schilling game." I'm not sure if the association helps or hurts the game.

Sea of games right now. I'll probably check it out, but not for a long time until I get through my pile of shame.

Heh, i don't know when I will get to a lot of my games. I wish I had more time, or maybe a clone.

I just got into the Diablo III beta. Good thing I don't like it.

If that game turns out to suck, I'm going to be really disappointed. Talk about expectations.

Curious to see how that texture pack compares to some of what's been released so far. The latest patch greatly improved performance, though, so now is a good time to go high-res.

You and me both. I've got like 3 unopened games gathering dust because of SWTOR.
