The Islanders' PP is 5th and the PK is 10th. 5-on-5 they are last in the League.

Let's hope the refs forget the whistles in their little scrub of a locker room then.

I usually hope for games with few penalties, but even more so in this one.

Love that Bob is getting the start. After all of his hustle and hard work, I think this is a game where Vorchek could get on the scoreboard. Briere should as well, since he usually does good against the Islanders. Go Flyers!

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is only paying him that because its front heavy. Are you saying that Bryz performance must relate directly to dollars paid instead of cap?

Why would Snider care when there are another 8.5 years for it to even out? If Bryz is on the bench as the back-up the rest of the year, Snider isnt the only one concerned, and it isnt because of the 9.1 million more he makes this year.

Its because he wants to win the god damn Stanley Cup.

Bryz is the highest paid goalie in the league this season. Snider absolutely wants him to play like he's the highest paid goalie. He would care because what if it never does even out in those 8.5 years? What if the highest paid goalie in the league ends up being a back up? I still have a hard time believing that Bryz won't be playing for us in the playoffs this season because of his contract and what he was brought in here for. I believe Lavy's tactics of sitting him during the regular season are to get him focused for the playoffs. Sure Snider wants to win the cup, but no matter how badly he wants to win the cup, he still won't be happy paying Bryz $10 million if he's not the one who does it. That's $10 million he could have saved then.

This perplexes me too. Lilja should sit, Gus should be in.

I thought he wasn't, I might have misread though.

We should consult with the MSE 9000.

Could be a variety or combination of reasons.

The team wanted Gustafsson on the big roster rather than Walker.

Walker finally plays: for the Phantoms.

They feel Gustafsson is finally healthy to be on the Flyers' roster.

Could be a current dman had a minor injury which predicated a recall of Gus.

If he does sit tonight, as has been speculated, maybe he plays the next game.

It is easier to get him to Long Island than it would be to go from ADR to Nashville.

Well thats a different story, I'm talking about right here, right now, as long as the team is Winning, Bryz on the bench is the least of Sniders worries. Of course he wants him playing if he's paying him that much, but as long as he turns his game around all is gone under the bridge.

I hope he isnt focusing now on the playoffs. I hope his focus on picking up his **** and putting together a few strong games and going from there. If the team enters the playoffs with Bryz playing the way he is, the team will have ZERO confidence in him, and he will have ZERO in himself.

If he doesnt find it before then, Bob will most certainly be making the starts, pending he is playing well.

Saying its 10 million he could have saved would be ignorant on his part, as if he could have predicted what is happened would have occured. of course if they go all the way and its not him he'll say "hey what am i paying you for", but if he understands the game, he'll understand goalies go through tough patches, call him in his office and tell him to get his **** together and prove to him why he's making the big bucks.

I could go for a little less Comedy show and a little more Vezina quality show from Bryz right about now.

rick tocchet was a guest on 94 wip's miday show(anthony and glen) and said that from his time in phoenix he has gathered from teammates that bryz wasn't big on practice bc he started 70 games a season and he said (trying NOT to completely call the guys wor ethic out on the radio) basically that he needed to work on that here bc he has lost his touch. i'm paraphrasing of course but the interview should be online on thei web site which i think is

or www.610wip.com i'm not sure.

Well, if true that's a huge issue. He needs to take a page out of Bob's book.

i 'm sorry but i don't think they've podcasted the interview yet beef bc they just talked to him at 4 but they ALWAYS put interviews online. it was a long interview and pretty insightful so if you have time give it a listen, he also mentions the flyers possibly aquiring weber and going another way and getting gleason instead but the brunt of the interview was about bryz bc of his tyes with phoenix. they asked good questions including if they were lazy in scouting him or if they did theyre homework. but the work ethic thing is scary!!!

Bah, well I'll be missing this game. Not to belittle an NHL team (which it sure seems like I'm doing just that), but at least it's just the Islanders. At best I'd feel like "Congrats, Flyers. You beat a team you should beat." and at worst I'd feel like, "Really? You lost to a team you've owned the past few years and are currently 26th in the league."

Yeah, I'm oversimplifying my feelings a bit here without knowing what will transpire in the game, but this isn't exactly a game the Flyers had circled on their calendar.

As always, Thanks MSE. LGF.

Just a heads up for those of you with Gamecenter. Seems like the game isn't blacked out for me since my screen says awaiting feed. Usually it tells me if the game will be blacked out before it even starts. Past experience has been good with the site giving me this feed status.

To be fair to Bryz this year there hasn't been any suggestion this is occurring with the Flyers. I remember hearing Lavy and Bryz both saying he had a good practice and is improving etc.... So before we throw him under the bus(again!), lets see if Lavy or someone says something about this. No disrespect to Toc but I wanna hear it from the coach or someone. Also Homer said I believe he has looked good in practice, just needs to play better. But man he has played like poop
