Sens fans are foaming at the mouth at the prospect of Neil going after big, bad Wolski. You'd think he was Cooke or Marchand with the way they're talking about him.

A) The Senators target him and take stupid penalties (thus eliminating their star offensive players from wreaking havoc in this one game), and risk suspensions if they actually injure Wolski (damaging their long-term chances this season) or,

B) Wolski knows he is on a very short leash and despite that is being given a top-6 opportunity on a first-place NHL club and HAS to produce and as such will come out with the one thing that people have been saying he is lacking (effort/heart) and be a legit offensive weapon in the top-6 for at least the end of the year or,

C) Wolski proves he can still play an effective scoring role and can get traded at higher value to another club for a player more befitting of the Rangers or,

D) Wolski comes out and proves he can no longer replicate his 50-60 point days and the Rangers know that he is essentially worthless cap and know that going forward they need to find a replacement in the top-6 after the season.

I don't really see any negatives, with Dubinsky nursing an injury, it's one game against a hot team, but not one that's in immediate striking distance, a good measuring stick game for Wolski, and a game the Rangers can afford to lose (more-so than the Boston game, for example), to see exactly what the "New and improved" version of Wolski will look like on this team. If he sucks it up and gets burned all game and the Rangers lose, they cut bait, if he tears it up, the Rangers have a new weapon to add to an already dangerous team without needing to make a trade. It's really a win-win right now.
I gotta admit... I agree.

Let's see what WW can bring.

He's out of excuses now. Time to put up or shut up. The caveat being he may be rusty from not playing for so long.

They can do what they want so long as we get a 5 minute PP out of it.

Can we score on a 5 minute PP, though?

Speaking of which, am I a bad person for yelling at our guys "C'MON BLEED, BLEED!" to get 4 instead of 2?

No way I always root for blood. As long as the high stick doesn't get them in the eye, who really cares? They're hockey players. A stitch or two isn't going to kill them and I'll take the four minutes any day of the week.

Sens are 10-1-1 in their last 12 at MSG? Yikes.

Find it kinda funny that management would slot in Wolski against the sens of all teams for his first game back

Didn't the Rangers lose, the last time they got a 5 minute PP in a game against the Sens?

Yep... he needs to prove that he should be in the lineup.

He better go out there all guns blazing. This is his chance.

I can't say I recall that.

I should, given that we can count our regulation losses on two hands, but I can't.

Even so, if they want to take retaliation shots, have at it. NYR lead the league in fighting majors for a reason.

Lets go Rangers! Time for W to step up, I think he'll get a key assist this game.

Considering you guys are talking about Wolski and Alfie, you would think you would remember the "boarding call" that was earlier in the game.

But I'm not really here to take shots. It was just a funny coincidence because you were talking about getting a 5 minute PP, and that was the game you guys lost.

I don't understand why everyone keeps saying we lost the last time we played Ottawa, blowing a 4 goal (?) lead. We beat them 3-2 last time...

I'm looking forward to seeing Wolski again too. Surely, his talent has to rise up and result in some points. I started seeing a hint of that before his injury so I hope it continues.

Go Rangers.

This pretty much sums it up over on their board:

"I'll excuse a loss tonight to make sure Wolski gets punished."

Keep your head up kiddo.
