Terry Murray's First Interview Since Being Fired

Nothing really notable, just interesting to hear from him again and get his perspective.

Quote:
“Again, the scoring for L.A. is starting to come. They’re starting to get timely goals. That was something that I just couldn’t get it going. The power play didn’t click. In any given game, if we had just been able to score one or two power-play goals, it would have been a `W’ and I’d still be coaching the team. It was that fine of a line. It’s just a young group of guys in L.A. right now that have to get themselves healthy and get some real good confidence in themselves, and it will come together. It’s a great group, a great leadership group. It’s a very strong dressing room. I really like what’s gone on there, during my time there, and they’re just continuing to build on it. I think that the L.A. Kings could become a team to reckon with as they move through the rest of this year.’’

Well at least he doesn't sound bitter about it, Terry is a good guy and deserves some sort of coaching job. Wish nothing but the best for him.

Yep. Class act. Would love for him to get one last coaching gig (hopefully faaaar east near his brother ).

Kinda sad that he's right--a power play goal or two may have saved his job. Bet he's got a Kompon voodoo doll.

I think most people agree that his time had come with the LA Kings.

That said, I thought it was pretty sad how some people trashed this guy and everything he did for the Kings, which was ALOT. I think if this core ever discovers some success they will owe alot of it to him and I wish he would get the credit and respect that he deserves.

Terry, thank you and good luck to you!

That was a really nice interview. We owe him a lot for getting the Kings to a higher level and hopefully he will get the chance to help out another struggling team.

Firstly, these "all people" are only some of the fans.

Secondly, all players and staff spoke nicely of him and Kopitar already thanked Murray for helping him become a better player.

I wasn't trying to imply that Kopitar had shown any disrespect toward Murray. Just saying that Murray is probably the person/coach that most improved his game on the defensive side of the puck.

Oh, ok. Yeah, I definitely agree. The guy was absolutely clueless about defensive play before TM took over. He suffered during the transition, that was obvious. He looked more lost than ever before or after.

Terry Murray would be the perfect Coach for the Next Columbus rebuild. That team needs to learn how to play D Collectively....

They should give him a three year contract let him work his magic.

With the rate most teams are going through coaches, it would be surprising if some team at one point or another in the near future didn't hire TM.

absolutely.... the Blue Jackets would be smart to hire him - that's a nearly perfect situation for him. Youngish team with a couple of stars and no defensive structure at all. (Sorry, Damacles didn't see your post!)

Terry would make a good assistant coach.

Their defense sucks though, and they won't win anything until they address that issue.

Which is why logically he would be good for them....if he can figure out how to build them up defensively without destroying them offensively. If he can't manage that, TM is an extinct species in today's NHL.

Fair enough, I haven't seen the "some" - not sure why I saw it that way. I guess I'm getting old.

I do my very best to not generalize although I do slip on occasion.
