Bob MacKenzie on tsn just mentioned during the intermission that he is a player teams will be looking to pick up for a playoff-run.

Based on some conversations I've had with scouts tonight, gut feeling tells me Hal Gill is a Flyer or Penguin again by deadline

Flyers fans I mentioned this to sounded ambivalent, but I think Gill would be a perfect fit for their team this year.

Personnally, I'd like to see a 3rd or a prospect who has a high chance to be a good 3rd liner ala Moen.

GMs WILL be looking at him. The title makes it seem like there are rumours.

For a 2nd rounder (or more...), Gill and Moen should be trade bait even if the Habs are in the playoff chase.

Fixed it. But Bob MacKenzie rarely says stuff without having something backing it up. He probably heard teams are interested and will be looking at his game soon.

Special teams are important in the playoffs and Hal Gill will improve the PK on any team.

I'd hope to get a 2nd for him like Toronto did, but with PG i'd be surprised with anything higher than a 3rd.

I think anyone expecting a 2nd out of Gill is out to lunch. He got a 2nd in a trade like 4 years, ago. He's slowed down significantly and has become a special teams guy.

He played 23 minutes in last year's playoffs and was effective against the Krejci line with Subban. I'm sure we can get at least a 3rd probably a 2nd. Moen also, especially if he will cost 2 mil or more.

Hope a team desperate enough will give us a 2nd in 2012 for him.

A late 1st rounder would be awesome, but the chances of that are ridiculously slim. Like 0.001%

After his run with pittsburgh and with us, someone may give it. Either way, speaking for myself I was hoping for a 2nd, doesn't mean I expect it.

He'll likely get us a third, wouldn't mind seeing St-Denis getting a couple more games with us if/when he's traded.

How much slower could he get from last year? I'd actually think after a few long playoff runs with the pens and us he might have more or the same value when he was with the leafs. But if he doesn't, a 3rd would be an ok addition for the draft.

If there is several teams interested it could drive his price tag up. Teams tend to get a little crazy when the playoffs come around.

The ceiling is 2nd round pick or decent NHL prospect. If Gautheir gets a 2nd it would be insane.

Gill was 32 years old when the Leafs traded him to Pittsburgh and wasn't about to hit the UFA market. Gill is 36 years old now (will be 37 when playoffs begin) and will be a UFA at the end of the season.

Moen and Gill should be moved win or lose. They most probably won't be coming back so let's pick up some picks unlike other seasons. Hopefully teams are desperate close to deadline and will offer a 2nd, I think it's very possible

Don't worry, I know that you are reasonable, but the problem is once you instill in the fans heads that Gill could get a second and then when deadline comes and he isn't traded for a 2nd, they will flip their minds on the GM.

I'd be absolutely shocked if he gets a second. A team can probably get a much better overall player for a second round pick at the deadline. Seriously, ask yourself as a GM of another team, would you want to flip a 2nd for Gill? I wouldn't.

Gill found his game in Pittsburgh though and has been a much better player since the Penguins aquired him. He also has a lot more playoff experience now and is a proven playoff asset after three long playoff runs (two with Pens and one with Habs) in the last four years. He also built a reputation as being a leader and huge asset in the dressing room.

I suspect Gill would fetch a 2nd or 3rd.

If a GM knew Gill was going to perform like he did for the 2009 champion Penguins or the 2010 miracle Habs, a GM on a championship contender would trade a 2nd for him in a heartbeat.

Count me in as thinking a 2nd is a pipe dream for 2012 Hal Gill.

A mid 3rd would be more than adequate in my view

And if it's a late 1st, I'm gonna go dancing naked in the streets then come home to take a sangria bath

We aren't getting any bigger on the blue line that's for sure. Diaz and Weber aren't even 6'1 and we'll continue to get pushed around.

O'Byrne's been playing physical game in and game out for almost 20 minutes per game. Why did we trade him for a minor league guy?

Management needs to go period!!
