First welcome and now who can tell us more about this kid? I read his quick blurb on here about him saying "he should make the Canadian World Junior team for this year's IIHF World Junior Championship tournament" and was shocked. How close was he? I find it hard to believe Calgary would toss in a kid like that when their farm is already so terrible.

He has grinder potential. Probably was a throw in but if so that's pretty dumb on Calgary's part considering how bad their pool is. Needs to fill out but it looks like he has some upside.

Well we're talking about Calgary so I don't think it would be that surprising that they toss a kid with potential.

Hopefully he's well rated by the Habs' scouting staff and not just a throw in. Lets hope he pulls a Gorges

Guess it's time to thank my parents for putting me in 9 years of french immersion. Hoping I can please the @CanadiensMTL fans someday.

He doesn't know yet that you DON'T need to speak French downtown Montreal. he won't have to use it.

He's also just turned 20. Clearly too late for him to gain weight.

holland taking french immersion was the clear deal maker here.

Bourque and Holland have already tweeted about their language skills so if there were any doubts that this linguistic story didnt develop into a major national story, you can put that to rest. Its kind of embarrassing, really.

Obviously if the Habs have french speaking player, it isn't because they're good it's because of the language.

By the way he isn't the next Maxwell, they're very different players (but the size). He is a hard-working defensive foward with a good speed. IMO, he plays like MichaŽl Bournival.

All right: I'm out here in Tri-City, Washington (ex MTL, many years ago!) and I've been watching Holland play here for a bit over three years in the WHL. The team is #1 in the CHL right now.

He's developed into a leader, and is a speedy kid, able to carry the puck well out of his own end, and through the defenders. This year he has 17 goals and 40 assists. Makes accurate passes, and occasionally even mixes it up!

Sad to hear how badly the Canadiens are being managed right now, but you're getting an excellent prospect. Will he be good in the NHL? Who knows, but he has all the tools to be a solid player.

There's 2 other Tri-City players on the Montreal roster right now: one named Price, and one named G***z. I think Holly's attitudes match more with Price than the other!

Our french guys might not be the best (desharnais, darche), but they do play hard, so you wont hear me saying anything negative about their character. Obviously, my earlier post was making light of the recent lack of french protest.

I saw Holland in the preseason/rookie tournament and he looked like one of the Flames' top prospects..then he earned an invite to the world junior camp with a solid start to the WHL season.

Hamilton is going to get an unprecedented influx of young talent next season.

Thanks Grant for the info. Also thank you for ripping into Marinaro(I assume it was you) on twitter, that man really needs to put in his place for the crap he says.

I was listening to 990 in the gym when he was ripping the trade, I was close to calling up while on the treadmill (not to mention in the US) to call him out for trying to stir **** up.

He seems like an interesting prospect. Obviously he needs to add weight and get stronger but what else in your opinion will he have to improve in his game going forward?

Yeah it was me. I get tired of the rehashing of old draft picks like the Maxwell one. As I said to Marinaro, Timmins might have two scouts remaining from that draft, and you can hardly criticize his drafts in recent years. Not yet at least.

Sorry - the summer camp. Still quite an achievement for a 7th rounder.
