JVR for Schenn? Are you kidding me
Schenn can be used to get a bigger piece

I'm curious if Burke can snake a deal where Kulemin and Grabovski get traded for more value than we think they're worth.

Personally, if Ryan is available I would much rather have Schenn in a package deal for him than a straight up JVR for Schenn

you're talking about a guy who career high is 40 points. Lol, stop embarassing yourself. He's on pace for a marginal 10 point improvement. Leaf fans love to gaga over what they don't have, and devalue their own assets.

Yes, but he is doing that with 13-14 minutes of icetime/game. 50 points playing 14 minutes a game in your 3rd nhl season? Not too shabby if you ask me.

Besides, I saw what I needed to see from him last April.

After Patrick Kane, there was quite a drop-off in talent in that draft. I mean Turris went #3.

turris has 8 pts in 11 games after being traded to a team that actually gave him a shot. he also put up 63 pts in 76 games in the A.

he was in a ****** situation in phx. his career is going to take off in ott.

yeah so? thanks for the update

he is a 60 point potential forward that has great chemistry with our team on and off the ice.

JVR's potential much exceeds 60 points..

He has a higher chance of becoming an impact player than schenn.

It may only be his 3rd NHL season, but he was drafted a year before Luke (who broke in at 18 and is in his 4th year). He should be farther along the development curve than he is, especially for a winger, which is a much easier position to play than defense.

Re ice time: JVR has been getting 15:10 a night, including 2:53 on the powerplay.

His 11 goals and 22 points is rather underwhelming for a guy who is supposed to have so much potential. I mean, Kulemin has been considered a let-down this year (offensively, at least... he's been great at everything else), and his 18 points are only 4 behind JVR.

I think people look at JVR's draft position (2nd overall) and just assume that he will be a star. But that's misleading, as the '07 draft was dismal. The top five were Kane, JVR, Turris, Hickey and Alzner. Compare that to the '08 draft, where the top five were Stamkos, Doughty, Bogosian, Pietrangelo and Schenn. The '08 draft was very deep too, with the likes of Myers, Del Zotto, Eberle, Carlson, Gardiner, Bailey etc going later in the 1st.

I don't want to see Luke moved, but if he does get shipped out it should only be in a deal for a Bobby Ryan type of player. Not to say that Burke wouldn't be interested in JVR, but his value isn't exactly high at the moment. If Philly is going to move him, he could be had without parting with Schenn, imo.

I wouldn't exactly put JVR and Turris situation in the same category. Ottawa clearly has more offensive talent in my opinion, for a player like him to succeed.

That said, JVR would definitely be on Burke's radar. He's spoken highly about him in the past, and the kid is going to be a damn good player. But I think that if Burke does part with Schenn, it would only be as part of a trade for someone like Getzlaf or Ryan.

You got to believe that Philly would love to unite the Schenn brothers at the same time. Brian Burke will clearly not get that opportunity to do so anytime soon

When's the last time that a players draft rank mattered?

If anything, I could argue that JVR hasn't lived up to his draft level.

He wasn't even a point per game player in the AHL. Bloody Mike Zigomanis is a point per game player in the AHL. Turris is way over rated.

People who fell in love with JVR after last years playoffs read box scores way too much when evaluating players.

The guy got what? 7 goals and no assists? Does that make sense to anyone? Is that the kind of performance that seems balanced or something that can be reproduced or depended upon in the future?

It was an anomaly. It was something that is unlikely to happen again.

That's not to say that JVR cant be a great player...even a star. But he's done nothing to show that he's gonna be a star.

Some are using his third line minutes as an excuse for his lack of production. To you I say...garbage.

Once Carter and Richards were traded JVR was supposed to be one of the guys that steps in to a bigger role and take off.

Hasnt happened, and that's very telling.

pretty disappointing 2nd overall pick. and he comes with a hefty 6 year contract extension due to kick in soon.
