Are there more players with pro experience playing in the CIS these days? Or is it just me?

Can't speak for all teams in the CIS, but UNB seems to have more ex-pros than any team; at least five?

From looking at the roster:

G Dan Lacosta (NHL/AHL/ECHL)
D Chad Denny (AHL/ECHL)
D Josh Kidd (AHL)
D Marc-Antoine Desnoyers (AHL/ECHL)
D Ben Wright (ECHL)
F Jeff Lee (AHL 2 games)
F Luke Lynes (CHL/ECHL)
F Geordie Wudrick (German 2)
F Shayne Wiebe (AHL)

Totalling 4 NHL games, 201 AHL games, and a whole bunch of minor pro.

Laurier Adds Swedish Player

Laurier added an additional body to their roster, bringing their defence core up to 7 players. They have added Jonas Strom hometown of Vasteras Sweden, player profile found at: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=18196 from Skare BK in Sweden where he is listed as a left winger. From what I have figured out, Skare BK has a D1 club (3rd highest level) where some good players such as Oscar Klefbom and Marcus Johansson have played. However it appears they also have a D3 team (5th highest level) which is I believe to be the team Strom played with. I have asked on the Sweden board what that league is like (he has also played D2). I do not imagine very strong. The only Swedish player I can think of in the OUA is Victor Anilane, but he played junior at a high level, and his only adult league play was in the Allsvenskan (2nd highest level).

And out of the 9, three can't even crack the starting lineup.

I was just working on a spreadsheet of AUS teams with all the Tier 2/Major Junior/Mem Cup/International/Pro experience of all the players, I've done 2 teams and hope to finish them all, started this before the holidays but I sort of forgot about it, I'll try and finish it though... As it stands in my sheet, without Wiebe and Wudrick UNB (25 roster players) has 7 ex-pro players, and all leagues together (I didn't make the distinction, probably should have) have 409 games of Pro experience, 1312 CIS games (after 1st half of 2011-2012), 6400 games of Major Junior, 23 Mem Cup games, 47 International (Mostly Under-17) and 734 Tier 2 games. 10 players drafted in the NHL. By contrast, UDM (21 roster players) has 964 CIS games, 249 Pro games (Chris Gaudet has 236 to himself...), 4263 games of Major Junior, 11 Mem Cup, 27 International and 1344 games of Tier 2. 2 players drafted in the NHL (Groulx and Lacroix).
