It just seems like one person probably really pushed for it, said it could be the steal of the draft and it ends up blowing up in our faces. I mean really, a Minnesota High School league? How can you honestly tell if they are a Top 30 17/18 year old in the entire world?
High School hockey is a where all the top players usually play in New England and Minnesota. Not as much with the NTDP the last few years but it's high calibre hockey, Crosby Parise and MacKinnon all played there. Plus top HS players would have played in big national tournaments and national team(U17 and U18) showcases like we have here.

The problem with Fischer was more with his development than anything, he had size, mobility, good hockey sense but he never filled out, improved his shot or strength for 1 on 1 battles.

Who are your favorite centre prospects, and who's the likeliest centre we'd get?

A top 5 (top 3 would be ideal) pick would be great news for this team moving forward.

We're clearly not going to do any damage in the playoffs, and there would be no point in finishing 9th or 10th.

I want a top 5 pick. Please. It would be best for the long term.

Does anybody know anything at al about Forsberg? He is supposed to be a top 3 pick but there are no vids, no stats, nothing. Very strange.

Anyways, if anybody has a little input on him that would be cool. Just curious.

Top centers:

1. Mikhail Grigorenko - top 2
2. Alex Galchenyuk - top 7-8
3. Zemgus Girgensons - top 10
4. Brendan Gaunce - top 10-12
5. Radek Faksa top 15

Hopefully my article on him can help you. You could also check him out on youtube and his playing at the WJC.

Assuming we don't finish bottom 3, a #6 pick and Galshenyuk would be a mighty prize to be had. Assuming he can return to form.

The fact he was used as the 13th foward in the gold medal game and didnt get any ice time let me with a bitter taste..

-6 Points back of Ducks for Grigorenko
- 3 points back of Edmonton
- 3 points back of Islanders
- 2 points back of Carolina
- 1 points back of Tampa Bay.

We'd be picking 7th overall today. This downward spiral continues and 2nd overall is attainable.

Columbus has all but locked up Yakupov.

No, of course not. I have absolutely zero knowledge of how the draft process works.

What place were the Devils in last season? Were they set to pick 9th and won, bumping them up to 4th?

The Habs had some luck in 2005, let's hope we get more luck this year. At least the team tries to be competitive unlike the Oilers and Penguins.

It was clear I was talking about the place in the standings. In no way did I reference the percentages of each position to move up or down in the draft lottery. The lower we sit the better chance we have of getting Grigorenko.

Lol sorry, I was actually just asking. I forgot and didn't look it up. Just stating it was a possibility and some good luck is what this team could use after a season like this.

Chicoutimi at Halifax tonight on Sportsnet & Tvasports 7pm ET

tons of draft prospects (2012 & 2013) in that game: Hudon, Poulin, MacKinnon, Ryan, Frk, Ciampini, Drouin, Gregoire

Edit: i think Poulin is out with the flu and Hudon is not 100% from what i read on twitter

Edit2: I saw in the old thread some question about Matteau stats with the US U18, from articles i read after Matteau made it official he was coming to the Q next year. He's leading the u18 team in scoring with 23pts in 30gms & 110pim

I want Galchenyuk! And I think we can get him in the mid to late 1st round so why not land a second 1st round pick and try to lane both Mikhail Grigorenko and Alex Galchenyuk.

Future top six:

Pacioretty - Gelchenyuk - Grigorenko
Gallagher - Eller - Leblanc

If we get Grigorenko.. I'd rather pick up Aberg than Galchenyuk.

Aberg would be sick. I'm keeping me eye on Zharkov as he seems quite dangerous.

Galchenyuk would never be available in ''late'' first round anyway.

And I don't see the Habs getting another first round pick this year.

I don't see Galchenyuk falling further than 10 to be honest.

Brett Connolly was much the same situation.

And rumors are that Galchenyuk will be back for the end of the season and OHL playoffs... something that Connolly wasn't doing in the WHL in his draft year.
