Guess that paper doesn't have the standings listed in it.

What Nash meant was "On paper our team has a better shot at Kessel"

Nomo. I agree on Johnson. Maybe when Leggy gets back we let him replace Johnson as the defensive center. For now, I like Fiddler playing with Kariya...

Ya know what? It makes me feel really good that this is NMK's outlook. Considering these are the same statements he was making at the begining of the season and look where we are now.

Oh and by the way we won lastnight.

all those penalties last night got me to looking at the number of minors we're taking;

minors for each defensivemen;
1)zidlicky...21
2)suter .....20
3)timonen..14
4)eaton......13
5)hamhuis..12
6)markov...11(22 games)
7)allison......9(15 games)

so basically, what that shows is that the smaller, quicker dmen are taking more penalties than the larger, more physical d-men so far... not exactly what i think most people thought when we were thinking about how the rule changes would cause the slower,bigger guys to take more penalties than the quicker guys..well maybe allison is showing it, but we're still seeing more penalties caused by lack of size/strength than i think anyone thought would happen

minors by forwards;
1)erat.....16
2)hartnell..13
3)stevenson,hordichuk,smithson(19 games),upshall,kariya,sullivan..each with 11

you expect those from hartnell,stevenson,hordichuk and upshall because of the chippy nature of their games... and almost all of kariya's came in the first 10 games, something he has almost eliminated...

probably the biggest surprise penalty wise is that tootoo has only taken one minor penalty in 6 games played now

I'm not surprised that Erat has so many. He is very careless with his stick, and one thing I have always noticed about him is that he will hook you...

the worst part is that he takes so many penalties IN THE OFFENSIVE ZONE.

i don't disagree with that at all, wish i had a way to determine how many of these minors were in the offensive zone... after xmas, i'll do a little analysis of past games and see how many times we have taken a penalty while we're on the pp this year, seems like a high number of times in my mind that both sully and erat have taken a penalty that has taken us off the pp, penalties that tended to be in our own offensive zone
