I'd be shocked if the NHL actually attempted to stop players from playing in the Olympics. There would be a ****storm of bad publicity and yet another reason for the NHL and NHLPA to butt heads.

I think they changed that.

Also, it's supposed to work that the player is supposed to be able to let them know if they don't want to go before the team is named.

What would Hartnell do at the all-star game? Talk ****, run over goalies and throw his gloves?

Lol, Lavi just opened his statement about Hartnell not being an All-Star with "You never wish for injury but..." Hahaha. I'm sure Hartsy will get the nod, last year Briere was snubbed and ended up being a replacement.

Kind of sad Hartsy didn't get but still getting four players in is pretty damn good!

Why would Hartnell be selected? Even in the case of injuries, he'd still be behind Elias, Vanek, Kovalchuk, Parise, Kopitar, Sharp, Eriksson...I'm assuming all those guys are healthy, but seriously, Hartnell should be behind a whole lot of names.

Hartnell: 19g 19a 38p NEVER been to ASG

These are all worth adversaries to Hartnell:

Elias:15g 25a 40p Been to ASG
Vanek: 19g 21a 40p Been to ASG
Sharp: 20g 20a 40p Been to ASG
Eriksson: 16g 24a 40p Been to ASG

Not worthy of ASG:
Kopitar:13g 27a 40p Much less goals + he's been to the ASG before + he just suffered an upper body injury... Hartnell goes over him IMO.

Parise: 15g 23a 38p Again, less goals, same points despite much more TOI & 1st unit PP time (Harts gets 2nd unit)... Parise has also been before... Harts clearly deserves it more.

Kovalchuk: 17g 21a 38p provides no defense has less goals than Harts, same # of total points in much more TOI... NO. Hartnell easily deserves it more.

--------------------------------

I'd have to say, Hartnell gets in over everyone else IMO if there is an injury (he'll likely never get the opportunity again while everyone else on the list has already gone and likely will go again). After that, I'd go Sharp, Vanek, Eriksson, Elias.

According to TSN panel, the biggest All-Star snub is Patrice Bergeron.
