Why did Japan withdraw? Because of the problems at home?

Final Hungarian Men’s Roster for 2011 W.C.

Goaltenders:
Zoltan Hetenyi (Fehervar)
Levente Szuper (Arizona)

Defensemen:
Adam Hegyi (1986) (Dunaujvaros)
Andras Horvath (Fehervar)
Attila Orban (Fehervar)
Tamas Pozsgai (Dunaujvaros)
Tamas Sille (Vasas)
Viktor Szelig (Briancon)
Viktor Tokaji (Fehervar)

Forwards:
Istvan Bartalis (Troja Ljungby)
Andras Benk (Fehervar)
Nikandrosz Galanisz (Dunaujvaros)
Roger Holeczy (Fehervar)
Daniel Koger (Laredo)
Csaba Kovacs (Fehervar)
Balazs Ladanyi (Fehervar)
Balint Magosi (Dunaujvaros)
Krisztian Palkovics (Fehervar)
Ladislav Sikorcin (Csikszereda)
Istvan Sofron (Fehervar)
Janos Vas (Tingsryds)
Marton Vas (Fehervar)

Results:
HUN – NED: 7-3
HUN – KOR: 6-3
HUN – ESP: 13-1
HUN – ITA: 3-4 (OT)

The top four point leaders of the tournament were from Hungary. Balazs Ladanyi led all players with 10 assists and 12 points and his +7 was also better than any other player. 23 year old Istvan Sofron led all goal scorers with 6 and was second to Ladanyi in points with 10. Sofron was named the tournament’s top forward. Andras Horvath led all defensemen in points with 9 and was third in overall scoring. Marton Vas finished fourth overall in points with 3 goals and 5 assists.

Better performance against Italy by the Hungarians compared to last year against Slovenia. Hungary played a pretty strong game. A couple of soft goals early on and some bad penalties cost Hungary promotion to the elite division. On the bright side, the team iced by Hungary was younger than the 2010 version, so the immediate future may not be as a bleak as some have suggested not so long ago.

With the realignment of the W.C. format, promotion to the elite will be more difficult. Hungary will join Austria, Slovenia, Ukraine, Great Britain and Japan in Division 1A which will be played in Slovenia. With some luck (bad luck) relegation to Division 1B is a possibility in this competitive group. Considering the proximity of the three EBEL countries to each other, it should be a great tournament and a profitable one for the Slovenians.

Hungary's U18 girls qualify for W.C. Division 1 Tournament in Norway

Quote:
ASIAGO, Italy – Hungary and Great Britain finish atop of the first World Championship event of the season. Both teams qualified for the U18 Women’s World Championship Division I.

...

The Magyars steamrolled through the tournament and showed that they are ready to compete at Division I level and challenge some of the established teams. They won all their games with relative ease; against China (10-1), France (3-0), Great Britain (8-1), Kazakhstan (10-2) and Italy (6-0) and led the event in almost every statistical category. Alexandra Huszak, who only appeared in three games, was the event’s scoring leader with nine goals and four assists.

...

Hungary and Great Britain will now join Japan, Slovakia, Austria and Norway in the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I which will be staged in Tromsø, Norway, from 29th December 2011 to 4th January 2012.

After beating Lithuania in a shootout, Hungary's U20 team lost to Ukraine 7-6. This loss pretty much assures that Hungary will remain in Division II for another year.

Next year a strong Romanian team, led by Roberto Gliga and the Biro twins, will be challenging for promotion. Croatia, the likely candidate for relegation from Division I, will be hoping that their return to Division II will be brief.

After giving up 9 goals to the Poles last year and now 7 to the Ukrainians this year, some serious attention needs to be directed towards defense if Hungary has any hope of escaping this division. The team will also need a healthy Benjamin Nemes and Kristof Hentes on the roster in order to win the group.

Hungary's U20 team finished in third place with a record of 3 wins and 2 losses after beating Spain 7-1 today. Attila Nemeth led the team with 6 goals and 9 points. Richard Hardi followed with 8 points and Gergo Toth was third with 6 points.

Hungary will be joined by Romania (promoted from Division IIB and Japan who was surprisingly relegated from Division IB. The Netherlands defeated South Korea to remain in the division. The Koreans will play in Division IIB next year. The promotion deciding game between Ukraine and Lithuania takes place later today.

Kroger back to Ahl - the P. Bruins

This is his second stint in a short spam whit an Ahl team... he played a three games like two weeks ago..at St.Johns Icecaps...whit no points but I'm really hopping that this time he can produce his first points at this level whit a chubbier team like the P.Bruins ---
His 13 point in Echl level (5 goals 8 ass.) looks good whit a +8 showing ...hope he can stick whit this team ... I'm even contemplating getting down to tonight's game whit my Hunnn flag give him a Merry Christmas cheer ...
Kellemes Karacsonyt ...
