Even though Gill won't land him, I think the habs should look at Stalberg. He's 6'3, physical can score and can fly. He'd be great for the bottom 6.

Nothing more than a 4th liner. I'd rather get a low 2nd or a high 3rd from a contender. St Louis (a contender this season) has Anaheim's 3rd. That would be a good return for Gill.

Do you think Campoli could fetch us a similar return if we add in a 5th or 6th to balance it out?

now we have bourque wonder if increase chance kostitisyn be traded before he can walk away for nil in return? given both are similar players. bourque signed at 3.3 is much cheaper than we could have inked kostitsyn for. kostitsyn should fetch us a first round pick and his 3.25 removed will give us all of cammy's 6 million to spend this off season.

Okay, I'll bite. If you think he would fetch more than a 2nd rounder what would that be?

I'm hoping we trade the Gill and the 2nd in 2013 we just got, for a 1st in 2012 and 3rd in 2012. That would be sweet.

I don't know about that. Calgary is probably going to blow next year. I would keep that pick for a while yet.

He seems to be progressing decently. I don't he's exactly what the habs need right now.

Not even close. Campoli is worth a 7th at best. Terrible as a pickup last season and he hasn't done anything to look good. Ottawa fleeced Chicago last season. Good thing we got him for nothing.

Please do not trade Andrei, he has been our best forward all year and i believe he's only going to get better. With Lars improving I think he would be great to keep around as they have great chemistry and he really seems like an honest hardworking person.

I'd like Stalberg. Let Kosty go and sign Stalberg. They're not the same kind of player, but Kosty's going to want too much $$$

A good prospect, a 2nd and another low pick, a 2nd and a prospect, Gill + for a better return.... need to go on ?

You're insane. Gill is UFA and a 2nd would be more than enough. You take that and run.

That would be amazing, but imo a 2nd is unlikely. A guy like Sopel last year, similar tools to Gill was traded here with Dawes for Maxwell/4th. Gill maybe gets a 3rd or a guy like Maxwell straight up. Looking at players who strictly went for a 2nd round, a signed Brad Boyes last season. Perhaps they package him with Weber or Campoli or with Moen (which I wouldn't want) and do better.

Edit: Wiz/Ian White also went straight up for 2nd rd picks last season.

I think you are being wildly optimistic. GM's fiercely protect their draft choices and are hesitant to trade them, even though an alarmingly low percentage of those draftees ever become legitimate NHL players.

Really? AK as been playing well for the most part but I'd pick Cole hands down as being the Habs best forward this year..

They've both been great. Cole shined a little more but that's because he's under the Fan favorite new guy effect. I really hope we can resign AK. He's that magic element in his line with Moen and Eller and really seem to excel at and like that forecheck, pressure on the puck type of game. Maybe 3-4 years @ 4m?

Here's an update to get the ball rolling

Based on some conversations I've had with scouts tonight, gut feeling tells me Hal Gill is a Flyer or Penguin again by deadline

So when we signed him 3 years ago our GM was getting laughed at and now, three years later, GM will be looking at him?

I think we like to think we are getting laughed at...

if teamS are interested in Gill, PG better get a 2nd rounder, at least. No reason he cannot bargain a good price, especially if we get a 2nd rounder from a team like Philly or Pits, in the conference, who will give a LOW 2nd rounder, i would actually expect a low 2nd rounder + some random low-mid prospect (IMO some big body forward who's miles from making it).

I'd be willing to throw in Gill and Gomez and ask for absolutely nothing in return.

I agree.

Philly will pay a 2nd. And we will gladly accept.
