Who would you want to play, come Stanley Cup finals time?
After winning the Stanley Cup 4 times, things might turn out perfect in the near future becoming a serious cup contender. The Rangers have beaten 3 teams in the Stanley Cup final and my question to you guys is: Who would you prefer to play in a Stanley Cup final?
Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs (twice) are already victims of our triumphs in the past. The first final was won against the Montreal Maroons, who are no longer active.
My preferred team would be the Detroit Red wings. It's difficult to explain but I would enjoy a Stanley Cup final so much when playing the Red Wings. The history of the team is one to look at with great respect and besides that, the players are also amazing. Datsyuk, Kronwall, Bertuzzi, Filppula, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Abdelkader, Franzen. Yes, the Red Wings would be my favorite opponent in a final
For some reason, I wouldn't be surprised if that does not come to fruition. Not saying the Rangers wouldn't make it that far (I hope the Rangers make it to the SC Finals), but it seems that Boston always runs into some kind of team that gives them fits.
realistically..... a team i could see going to the cup and who i want the rangers to play is san jose. We played them pretty well, there goaltending is hot and cold, the defense corps. is mehhhh. Our best bet is san jose.......( and to just shut up jumbo "retard" thorton)
I would be ecstatic just to be in the finals so anyone. I am a bit superstitious so I think this is a bit premature.
But just a point that the older posters may agree....in 94 when the Rangers/Vancouver match up was set, that was considered an "easy" match up and even though the Rangers lost the opening game in one which they dominated, hit a post, and Kirk MacLean stole, they were still up 3 games to 1 for game 5...well before you knew it...Game 7 and the Canucks were a Nathan LaFayette post away from tying that game late.
(LaFayette and MacLean would find their way onto the Rangers as well as Bure and Momesso).
So the point is, whomever the opponent would be is likely irrelevant.
I'm under this premise too. So if this does end up being the case and they get by the Bruins, I feel like it doesn't matter who they play in the finals because they would have dispatched the (arguably) best team.
