"the ref"

there's a guy that sits in section 120 (row R?) every game dressed like a referee. he does weird **** like point at the goal when we score and signalling when it's time to take a faceoff. does anyone know what i'm talking about? what's this guy's story? he's become stuff of a legend among my friends that regularly attend games.

There are a couple of "regulars" that are at all games. "the ref" "towel guy" "the rocker/shaker" and even though I don't see him any more anybody remember the little kid who would dance in the stairway.

None of their origins are known, the popular theory is that scottrade center was built on an indian burial ground and they are ghost.

sources close to the team have told me that the shaker had to stop regularly doing his shtick for medical reasons. he's like ozzie smith and the back flip. only does his thing once a year now.

Funny story about the "shaker." We had season tickets in 327 and he apparently wanted the seats we had, so the Blues gave them our tickets and moved us over. My dad was pretty upset about that, so they gave us free parking in the garage for a season. All in all the season ticket people are right up there with the marketing team.

I prefer the Cotton Eye Joe guy anyway.

He's always been there when I've been at games over break from Mizzou. He stands right under 327 in the Top Shelf area. At one of the games there were a couple drunk girls that wanted to dance with him and he completely ignored them, absolutely hilarious.

That kid with the foam hockey helmet/hat used to dance in the lower bowl behind the benches. He was AWESOME!

How about those guys who dress up like the twins from the movie Slapshot. Haven't seen them in awhile, but I'm sure they're still around right?

The ref has been there for a really long time, the shaker guy is gone, the cotton eyed joe guy isn't around much anymore. The towel guy is one of my little sisters best friends cousin, she always ask me if I want his autograph. I have no idea why any one would want the towel guy's autograph but she has it.

All he does is point to the goal. I sat close to him against the Canucks and man did he look silly.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Red Berenson Cowboy. Definitely deserves to be mentioned among the all-time great Blues fans.

Cotton Eye Joe guy is still there at all the games, they just don't play the song as much.

he was in rare form at the canucks game. i caught him air drumming to pantera during one of the TV timeouts... then he just stopped doing anything for the last 20 minutes or so of the night. i joked that some "unruly teenagers" were making fun of him.

I can see "The Ref" from our seats. He's always entertaining to watch.

I imagine that every areana has characters like these but we certainly have some great ones roaming around "The Scott".

If you want to speak with "the ref" he always goes out for a smoke break during intermissions by the 120's sections. I always stand by him lol.

He autographs every towel he throws as well, which I thought was pretty funny, but I suppose it does authenticate that you managed to beat the odds and snag one.

I see him roaming the concourse regularly
(I have ST in sec106)...My favorite regular is Cotton Eye Joe Guy (used hang with him at Paddy O's) & the Berenson Cowboy. I hope to NOT gain a reputation as a standout regular...just a guy who likes hockey, even if I dont understand some of what I am seeing.
