5-4 Hershey now with a Christian Hanson goal. Hanson is the son of Dave Hanson who played a Hanson brother in Slap Shot

Since Holtby has replaced Sabourin he seems to be outplaying Lehner. As a bears fan I really like Lehner he really reminds me of Neuvirth when he won us our back to back championships

So ridiculous - can't hold a bleeping lead and give up 4 goals in the 3rd.

What has been the problem with the B-Sens this year? Injuries?

The defence is good enough in Tim Murray's opinion otherwise he wouldn't have let Smith, Benoit, and Kinrade go. Only difference is Weirdcock is injured and he wasn't that big of an impact.

Two goals were on Lehner but the defence is accountable for its actions and the other goals they simply left Lehner hanging. It simply boggles my mind why in hockey defenceman look at the puck instead of checking their man who usually skates right by and shoots the puck while the d-man is looking at it. Then after the goal comes the obligatory swearing and "damn I should have had that one"...yeah get all frustrated but don't fix your mistake.

Problem is KK only has 4 AHL D-men.

Mark Borowiecki
Eric Gryba
Tim Conboy
Craig Schira

Next 3 are not AHL D-men.
Bobby Raymond
Mike Ratchuk
Josh Godfrey

+ some signed D-man retired & Patrick Wiercioch is injured.

Add to that not a lot of firepower up front.

Puck stays in the defensive zone way to long.

Only way they can compete is a total team effort 110% & they don't get that every nite.

Ok, fair point and I didn't realise they weren't AHL-calibre. That being said I blame Murray for not properly equipping the team save Weirdcock. They made the deal for Klinkhammer - why can Bingo not be given a suitable defence to fill the holes? Isn't management being irresponsible of Lehner's development if they're not giving the team the proper tools to get the job done?

One could argue that Conboy really isnt a suitable dman either. I already know Godfrey isn't. He is a guy who just has a huge cannon and will be a PP specialist

Watched it on the AHL live. Few comments
Bingo tried to protect the lead and not attack the net.
4 of 6 goals were missed forward checks in the slot. 3 were turnovers where Bingo lost possession in d or neutral zone.
Defence seldom jump up into an O attack.
Boro and Gryba hardly came off the ice and looked exhausted in the 3rd. (Work good together)
Forwards take too many poor angle shots. They had trouble finishing except for about 2 minutes.
In the third they seldom used the points in the O zone and Hershey had collapsed all around the forwards.
DD and Grant played well in the offensive zone. Jimmy O was skating well but seemed a bit rusty finishing.
I can't say it was a lack of effort but they just don't have a sustained attack, poor finishing skills and tried to protect a lead in the third(3 shots)

True, Conboy has his down faults no doubt..disappointed in Godfrey as well..

However Lehner needs to work on his glove and his rebounds in order to keep the Sens in the game..not really what I expected out of him tonight..

Agreed on most points, that is also where Lehner needs to step in and protect the lead..

Regarding the Aucoin scratch tonight, could someone clarify what constitutes a veteran in AHL speak.

Is it age, years of service, or both?

260 games in the NHL, AHL or any European Elite league. Calculated at the beginning of the season.

I thought Lehner kept them in the game for most of the game. In the third two or three of the goals were 10-15 ft outside the crease. Lehner had no chance. Just blown assignments from the forwards. Schira/Conboy's +- is terrible the last two games, but half of these were blown forward assignments. They don't seem to read the need to fill around the net when a second d man needs to drop behind the net or a situation arises where there are odd man coverages. You can see the frustration in their body language. I think it is part of the coaches responsibility to encourage these guys to keep up the effort and correct the defensive coverage issue. The fact that they lost 80% of their scoring from last year doesn't help but scoring is not the only issue. They need to put quality shots on the net. If you see defencemen getting points then you are opening up the ice and spreading out the oppositions defense. The cycling down low until you get pushed of the puck is not effective. When the d men shoot..good things happen especially when your forwards are not very physical. Boro is the only dman at this pint who seems to take risks pinching and driving into the opponents zone. Not sure if it is a trust issue for coverage. Saw the Sens game last night..they use the points very effectively and they are WINNING.
