As Philadelphia sports fans, disappointment comes with the territory. Today, for us at Philly Sports Daily, this is one of those days.

Unfortunately, the media business is shaped like a football, and can take some funny bounces. In the end, we came up just a little short, and are shutting down Philly Sports Daily.

The goal of Philly Sports Daily was to be great. There were a lot of days when we achieved that, like the night Jim McCormick scooped the entire country on the Hunter Pence trade – from his hospital bed. Like Dave Isaac and Ryan Bright’s relentless coverage the day Paul Holmgren blew up the Flyers. Like the days when Tim McManus was able to get Eagles players to tell him something they wouldn’t tell anyone else. And of course, any day that Bill Lyon wrote.

We’ve written thousands of stories, had dozens and dozens of scoops, launched some great careers and rejuvenated a few others. I hope that we informed and entertained you.

Too bad for Dave Isaac, I thought he was quite good. Ryan Bright has always been awful so I won't miss him one bit.

Agreed. Dave seemed to know what he was talking about. One of the few people I was talking with regarding all the contract issues during the summer (Eriksson, Hyka, etc etc)

This is really a shame. Dave Isaac always seemed to have the latest and I enjoyed his stuff more than most of the other guys like Seravalli and Panaccio
