Excellent road victory.

This is what an average night from Drew Doughty is supposed look like.

What is our record under DS?

I thought we were 9 1 4 under him, no? 7 1 4? I thought was two games ago.

Something small but it was one of my biggest complaints about Murray. The Kings best offensive players are no longer spending all their time killing penalties. They are more fresh throughout the game when they need em and it's paying off.....

We got Edmonton tomorrow. We are cursed. Hopefully we break it. We've never swept a back-to-back Alberta road trip.

Everyone is happening!

That had to be one of the most intense, hard-hitting, and heavily fought games I can remember this team putting together this season! Just beautiful to watch in motion. A few more games like that and I'm convinced the sky's the limit.

For the first time in a long time, the Kings are actually in a playoff spot points-percentage-wise, and they actually moved up to 7th with a 94.8 overall point pace. Dallas is 8th with a 93.4 point pace. Nashville is 6th with a 100.6 point pace.

Cammy scored, but at least he was a -2.

Kings held Calgary to just 7 shots in the third and did it by keeping the pressure up.

7-1-4, Sutter started against Anaheim on 12/22:

Matt Greene is on fire! Three goals on the season and 2 GW goals.

Kings have 9 GW goals by defensemen, lead by Johnson's 4.

Kelly Hrudey just said on HNIC that when the Kings have a lead in the second period he has a feeling that Jonathan Quick is so good he will never give up that lead. WOW.

Last time he had that feeling was when he played for San Jose and Mike Vernon was the starter. Quite the compliment for Quick,

Sutter was able to get the Johnson-Greene pairing to work by upping the forecheck pressure. They aren't caught flat footed as much and they don't have to back off as much with Sutter.

Still wonder what Murray really thinks about how the Kings are playing with Sutter using Murray's system? Wonder if he thinks that NHL players still don't need their coach to help motivate them.

What a night for the Kings. Still a little timid on the PP, but things are coming together. Glad to see Kopitar not only played but contributed.

After the Kings beat Calgary tonight, the game puck went to coach Darryl Sutter, who got the better of his brother, Flames coach Brent Sutter, and also beat the team with which he served as coach and (later) general manager for eight years. At the final horn, Jarret Stoll got the puck and the team gave it to Sutter, and cheered him when he walked in the locker room

“He was pretty intense all day, more so than usual,” Kings forward Dustin Penner said. “The way he spoke, and what he said, you could tell this meant a lot to him, and we were happy to get it for him.’’

Sutter, true to his stoic public persona, said the win didn’t mean anything extra special to him.

“Non-factor,” Sutter said. “It’s interesting that you guys [reporters] keep talking about it. Our concept, and our mindset, is always about the team first. That stuff really doesn’t mean much to me.”

Sutter said he would give the game puck to his son 18-year-old Chris.

“I’m going to give it to Chris. I can’t find him,” Sutter said.

great win, this is a totally different team under Sutter.

a bit OT but I'm a bit puzzled that Bob and Jim were perplexed about the other winning the poll question, when I saw the [poll my first thought was the Howe's I'm a bit surprised they weren't in the poll.

oh and hire Bernie!!!!!!!!!!

That was a very good team game. Nice road win and great game by Quick. There was so many great things said about him on CBC tonight. Kelly Hrudey was very complimentary about him. Of course Quick said he is going to the all star game because of how well the team has played in front of him. Very humble.

Thank goodness Kopitar made out ok with the knee on knee hit. Penner used his body well tonight, Richards was wonderful. Doughty was on fire tonight. Kopitar is getting the scoring going again. Hopefully we take the momentum into the next game.

Sutter's seriousness seems to be directly related to making the Cup Finals twice as an assistant and head coach and not winning it. He wants the damn Cup. Bad.

You guys looked shockingly similar to the 2004 Flames tonight. I was saying the in Flames thread that I've seen that 3rd period you guys played a hundred times.

It was a far cry from the third period they used to play under Murray with a lead where they would just sit back the whole time.

For those of you who like to blame coaches for Kings' poor play, I sure haven't heard much from the "fire Kompon" crowd lately.

Just saying.

I wonder if DL still is standing by his accsation that Murray is the right guy for the Kings and that "the players fired" him. Murray is making all the right moves and is reaching his players. I love seeing the fatherly coaching. He is very good for our young guys and the stud dmen seem to really be responding to him and his use of them.
