Is Couturier the next Stamkos?

I'm too lazy to argue my point with statistics, but doesn't Couturier remind you of Stamkos in his first season? Couturier's world class shot combined with more ice time and placement on a real scoring line is going to produce a lot of goals. I wouldn't be surprised if he scores 50 within the next 4 seasons.

Yeah, the current goal-scoring streak he's on is great, and he obviously has a great shot... but let's not get too carried away here.

I loled. Couturier wasn't drafted to be a goal scorer.

Don't think so. Potential 20-30g, 40-50a player. Hard to tell at this early stage of his NHL career. Think he'll turn into a ppg player +/- 10 points. If you want to compare him with Stamkos, Couturier is way better defensively. He'll turn into a great two way player, when Stamkos is a decent two way player with great offense.

Couturier will have Gretzky's playmaking, Stamkos' goal scoring, and Zetterburg's defensive abilities.

Uh, no. If he gets meaner, he could be the next Mike Fisher, maybe.

I think his ceiling is just a little above this.

Seriously, comparing him to a 50 pt max player? This is just as poor a comparison as the OPs...

When he goes on a four game pointless streak I will start a thread posing the question of whether or not he is the next Alexandre Daigle.

Clearly not, but he's clearly got a vicious shot. He'll be twice the player in his own end but half it in theirs.

Couturier is a little more offensively talented, but not as physical. He should be a similar player with better offensive stats, especially as he moves up to 2nd/3rd line center and plays with more talented wingers. Fisher is much more apt comparison than Stamkos.

Offensive projections from juniors are imperfect, but as a 17 y.o Couturier was MILES ahead of Fisher offensively... and then you got the whole mono thing for Couturier last year. Who knows. Fisher has cracked 50 pts just once in his career... I think you're looking at a notably higher ceiling with Couturier.

It's tough to say what his high end is. Right now it appears a mid level projection would be a Jordan Staal Esque player, which is better than mike fisher easy
