My research starts and ends with the first post (in the thread) on that topic. Probably should have looked into it a bit more. Regardless, I'd be happy if Bernier started because of that but, can't really argue with Quick starting either.

If Hemsky's really in the Kings plans, then Hickey's the guy on offer. Just like Teubert was last season for Penner. I think that's a good deal for both teams actually.

I remember a couple of years ago they played Boston and NJ at 7 and 5 back-to-back, they won both, and Quick started both to boot.

Don't know what to expect tonight. The Oilers are a fast team, so I think the team will take a lot of penalties and have a slow start. Might be a low scoring game.

Smyth has always been a Kings killer.

He'll probably notch a pair of goals late in the third to win the game.

We're always going to be in trade rumors with Edmonton because they need D more than anything, and that's what the Kings have an abundance of.

Lol it's hilarious.

I'm sick and tired of trading with Edmonton, other than...Flyers, who else needs D?

New Jersey
Buffalo (so.....bad.....)
Columbus
Ottawa
Carolina
Winnipeg (kind of sort of)
Tampa Bay
Calgary

Those are major ones I can think of.

At this moment in time 6 of those 8 teams are out of the playoffs.

After trading with Calgary and signing Erhoff, what the heck is wrong with Buffalo's D? I have no idea, have not been able to keep up with that teams progress. With this kind of list (can't see us trading with Anaheim at all), I'm suprised we have not worked out a deal with some of those Eastern teams.

There are a lot of teams that need defense and we have guys from 1st defenseman to the 8th on down that could fit their needs. I just don't see Dean doing it unless the Mitchell contract situation is completely settled one way or the other.

I wish Westy was playing this game, considering my hatred for Sutton.

Because: LA and the Oilers obviously like trading with each other. LA could use another offensive winger. Hemsky will be one of the better, if not best, wingers available at the trade deadline (assuming he isn't injured).

Nobody here wants Hemsky. Even if he's healthy at the trade, he'll break on the plane flight to LA.

Depends on the price tag (looking at it from LA's point of view). I mean, the Oilers traded Marty Reasoner and a second rounder for Samsonov in '06 and that ended helping them quite a bit in the playoffs. I can understand the reluctance in wanting hemsky though --- although he's in the lineup he's not playing that great (imo he's not even healthy now).

They are my Eastern conference follower.

And it's just awful...real awful.

People complain here about Jack Johnson and Drews puck decisions....spend a night watching Gragnani, Ehrhoff and Myers fumble the puck in their own zone. It'll make you rip your hair out.

Not to mention their shut down men have been really bad...particularly their bottom 2 pairings (Weber, Regher)

Aside from Leopold and Sekera...i don't think it's a stretch to say that every one of Buffalos dmen has been playing well below expectations. Injuries have also taken a toll.

Regher and Ehrohoff...combine for a -24 and are dead last on the team in +/-. So much for the big offseason acquisitions lol

Buffalo is pretty much a carbon copy of our team....except without the defense. If you can imagine.....

Speaking of poor defense. Anyone look at the Oilers D group?

Calgary would be going for a younger D, probably not available but Voynov-like. But we'd have to send a D back, so doesn't make us great trading partners.

Anyway, came to ask if Quick was starting or resting?

True, but I just don't see the Kings getting a good deal for him. If they could, then I would be OK with it I guess.

When asking yourself if we want Ales Hemsky you should ask yourself two questions...

1) Has he ever completed a full season without injury?

Answer: No, He had an 81 game season in 05-06, in the last two season he has played less then 60 games combined.

2) Is he a goal scorer? And/or will he help our scoring

Answer: Well, he has never had more then 23 goals. And only twice had over 20. His 77 point 05-06 included 58 assists. So he is primarily a passer first, not a goal scorer.
