Good....I think we'll get Humpty back together here by the All-Star break
Bad....Injuries are behind this underachieving team's struggles
Ugly....Lindy has got duct tape and baling wire out right now

If we are actually gonna blow it up (we aren't) I don't see the point of keeping Pomminville and vanek, they will get us the biggest return for an amazing rebuild and really what the point of keeping them through a rebuild, let's say the rebuild takes 3 years Pomminville will be 32 and vanek will be 30, I'd say just keep anyone under 25 and trade everyone else for draft picks/prospects. If 3 years from now we think the rebuild is complete and we can contend again we can just throw money at free agents to fill Pomminville and Vaneks shoes

I really dont think this team needs a total blowup..it needs a definite shakeup..If the GM who doesnt have any restraints anymore cant recognize this or doesnt act on it....the shakeup should begin with him then.

Gragnani makes me miss Nathan Paestch.

Vanek could have borrowed a helmet from another player to take the penalty shot.

All Luke Adam had to do was finish his check on Tavares and the first goal would have never happened.

So anyone know the exact injury to Vanek which caused him to wear the cage? I saw how he was blasted with the puck.

No no. Hitting only does something when it wins a puck battle.

Unfortunately Darcy doesn't draft centers since Boyes, or virtually anyone can play that position. They'll draft a defenseman (hey, he was the BPA people!!!) and move Gragniani to center (he's got good size!!!).

That's what, eight in a row on the road they've lost? And they were happy to go on a 7 game road swing? Crazy.

And I still don't recall the last time these guys won two in a row.

Still no scoring. Vanek's slumping on the score sheet. They've gotta get him going again (to go along with the secondary scorers on the team, who never even got going).

I honestly can not remember a game where I saw so many ugly defensive zone turnovers.

I guess this is what happens when they (paraphrasing) go out and play loose with no pressure and just try to have fun?

Looking at the home vs away goal totals is interesting.

HOME (11-9-5)
GP: 25
G: 74
GA: 71

ROAD (8-11-0)
GP: 19
G: 36
GA: 56

They manage to score almost 3 goals per game at home, but give up almost as many and still lose more than they win. On the road, they're still giving up those same 3 goals per game, but are only scoring 2.

I wonder if the dropoff in scoring is Ruff trying to make adjustments and play more conservative on the road, or something else. Whatever it is, it's not working. We're giving up just as many goals as we do at home but scoring a lot less.

The last time they did it was the 4 games before the infamous Boston game on November 12th - they had won the four games prior to that one. At that point in the season, they also had a 3-game win streak and a 2-game win streak.

Since that Boston game, they've managed to string together four 3-game losing streaks and a couple of 2-game losing streaks, but back to back wins is apparently too much to ask.

If the Sabres go 0 for 7 on this road trip they will be able to compete for the #1 overall pick!! You can do it!

Good:

- Enroth kept it from becoming a blowout; he was aggressive, coming out to challenge shooters and cut down angles;
- Goose/Kaleta/Ellis played hard, hit people, and created opportunities
- Gerbe

Bad:

- Mike Weber is a joke.
- MAG is a joke
- Roy/Stafford are a joke
- our defense is a joke
- our inability to win on the road is a joke

Ugly:

- Lindy Ruff has officially given up on this team, too. Don't think it's just the players who don't try. For instance, Roy/Stafford/Gerbe sucks yet they've been together for weeks; Hecht does not belong between Van and Poms yet there he stays; adjustments need to made yet nothing changes. Ruff no longer gives a ****, but that's what happens when own(hom)ership steps in and gives management a free pass to suck. "Lindy Ruff ain't going anywhere!" Cool. Neither are the Sabres, Terry.

I was watching at a bar with no sound. Could anyone fill me in on what the deal was with the penalties after Kaleta hit McDonald? Looked like a clean hit to me but Kaleta received the only penalty after the incident.

It was a clean hit. Consensus on the board -- confirmed by the Islander broadcast team -- was that it was a reputation call.

4 in a row before the Lucic Miller incident.

Do you even realize those guys are all UFAs? We are almost sellers. Very close. Out of it. Yes, some 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th picks will make the team better in the future. This year is done.

- The defense.
- The rest of the forwards.
- Regehr went to the locker room. Apparently "will miss some time".
- According to Mike Harrington, this is the first time in franchise history they've had 8 consecutive road losses.
- Only team in the NHL without back-to-back wins since Nov 11.

- Everything.
Give them a couple weeks, they'll add a half-dozen more.

This team does not exhibit any of the characteristics of a winning program. I'd say most of the squad no longer expect to win. In fact, they seem to play as if they expect the worst to happen. You can see it in their game. And when that "special" moment happens, they pretty much accept it as how it is.

Maybe we fans see this because we've watched the Bills, Braves and yes, Sabres for 30+ years and can all to well discern when players have given up.

Answering the theme of this GBU....... I agree with the premise. IMO this team is not as talented as management believes it to be. Others will disagree but let's see if we just can agree that at a minimum, these guys are missing the necessary ingredient (mojo?) that brings the talented and the plumbers together to team excellence and achievement. It just hasn't happened this year and I don't believe it's going to.
It's a team of Navin R. Johnson's from "the Jerk".

First broadcast I've heard with Sylvester and Gare. I find both unintelligible. (Not Shannon Sharpe unintelligible, mind you, but still not good.) I've engaged in better in-game discussion and heard better play-by-play from random hockey fans on bar stools. At one point Gare referred to the goalie's shoulder as his "soldier".
