This team is having a terrible year, I believe 6-15, whats wrong with this team?
IMO, the two biggest areas is their consistency, especially on defense (and that includes goaltending) and no elite-level sniper. The one they had last season, Jordan Samuels-Thomas, has transferred to Quinnipiac. He makes his Bobcats debut in this coming fall.
BG is still rebuilding from a few previous university administrations, one that carelessly let the program fall in competitive advantage from other programs going the other way, building their programs, like Notre Dame and Miami (OH). Following that administration a second came close to cutting the program all together. Support from fans, boosters, alumni helped turned the scare around and the latest university administration is supportive of the program. BG hired a new head coach a cpl seasons ago and has been renovating the ice arena.
BG was not on top talent's radar during the fall of the program and the few higher skilled players left for pro hockey early or transferred to other schools when the program was on the chopping block. That has left the current team with only 2 seniors and 18 players are underclassmen. A young and inexperienced team has some holes on D and consistency playing a full 60 mins. This season's recruiting class was better than the last and next year BG has a cpl higher end recruits. Top talent doesn't want to go to a program that may or may not be cut, but now that the program is stabilizing the ability to attract top talent should increase.
