They lost at Winnipeg, then Mikko went out. Only one loss while Mikko was in, and that was a relatively hard fought game that was lost by a single goal and very nearly went to OT.
Revisionist history is always a failure.
Off topic: Afer talking to a few fellow Winnipeggers, the game vs the Wild has been one of the best games this season. I know I had a blast at it. (even though they lost )
Unfortunate and as seen in recent history this team cannot win without their captain. Still got over a month till the deadline, so if the expected downfall continues to happen there will be no reason to not sell off rentals.
Let's not kid ourselves here...the Wild started tanking before Mikko got hurt the first time. They lost two straight before Mikko went out, and have only one once in regulation since December 10th. Mikko played in 11 of those 15 games.
No, they didnt. They played one bad game against the Jets and then they responded with one hell of a game against Chicago. They died when Koivu was injured and out for the Islander game.
So ... we have 11 forwards making the trip and Hackett has been reassigned to Huston. Sort of strange that it's this late in the day with no announcement on who is being recalled from Huston. Feels like a trade is coming.
Nope I'm just a realist, and not a rose-colored glasses fan.
Or are you saying you'd rather have the Wild, make it into the final playoff spot on the last day, and promptly get swept in the playoffs? Because there is no chance this team wins a playoff series this year.
The we are once again stuck with a mid round draft pick position.

To be honest I think making the playoffs would do a lot better for our franchise than the usual no playoffs and middling draft pick.
A playoff berth will show potential free agent signings that this franchise is turning things around.
A playoff berth gives fans hope for the future and sells tickets.
The only thing that really seems for certain to me at this point is that there's no way were gonna be able to tank hard enough to land a lottery pick. And if were not picking that high up on the board whats the point really?
I can appreciate the "Realism" of the situation, but I'm willing to give the guys two games to show that they're not going to completely self destruct again just as they're starting to get back on track. Do I think they're going to do that? I give it maybe a 50/50 chance that Yeo has got the locker room set up in such a way that losing Koivu doesn't cause a collapse.
Like I said. I'll probably be blowing up Eddy Xmas Disaster Style sometime this week, but I'm gonna wait until I see how they do in Philly and Toronto.
Yeah, even making the playoffs and getting knocked out in the first round would mean a ton to the franchise at this point. It would elevate them back into respectability, in the eyes of the fans, the media, and PariseUFAs.
Not throwing in the towel just yet. Phoenix who usually is in the playoffs every year is on the outside right now so that is good, but the blues made the jump, i think they will come back to earth a little bit but probably still make the playoffs. Its going to come down to Preds, Kings, Stars, Wild, Yotes for 6-8 seeds. I think Flames, Avs fall off but then again possibly the Wild could too
Koivu is still keeping his hopes up about making it to the All Star game and NHL has agreed to delay naming a replacement for him for couple of days. The article I read was in finnish.
I think Koivu needs to be checked for a concussion, because if he isn't ruling out the All-Star game yet, then he's lost his freaking mind! Hey Mikko, you aren't a robot! Don't mess with a separated shoulder.
It's an honor to be selected for the game, and he needs to realize that he WAS given that honor. Sure, he can't play in it or participate in the activities. But he was picked to go before the injury. Be proud of that and know that there are plenty more chances in the future.
It makes ZERO sense to risk further injury just to play in a game that doesn't even count! He's already had shoulder surgery before...why play with fire? Heal properly and re-join your team...in case for some unexplained reason (and h-e-double hockey sticks freezes over) they happen to go on a winning streak and continue to fight for a spot. They'll need you!
