Sauer started light workouts on December 19 which is 13 days after the concussion. He saw the Rangers medical staff on December 21. It was quiet until last week when Torts said Sauer was working out and had a good week the previous week. When he is going to start skating? It took Staal 2 weeks to resume skating after 2 weeks on exercising. Looking at the calendar,Sauer has been symptom free for 3 weeks.

Good news. I guess we could expect him back early February at the latest if he stays on track..

Good news for #NYR: Mike Sauer (concussion) on the ice in a non-contact jersey. But don't jump to conclusions about imminent return.

Sauer skated for first time yesterday. Symptom-free. Termed day to day.

Excellent. How long did it take for Staal to be cleared for contact after getting a non-contact jersey?

nice! not jumping the gun cause you never know but I was hoping end of January/early Feb for a return. Plenty of time to play before the deadline.

Hopefully everyone is healthy so they target just a Forward for the top 6 and PP help

I would say they are probably looking at 2-3 weeks if all goes well. They will have him skate and then give him a day off to make sure he feels alright. Then, after that, it's all about conditioning.

Sauer suffered the concussion 6 weeks ago today. He started working out 2 weeks later. His conditioning shouldn't be as bad as Staal was.

Mike Sauer (concussion) said he's essentially been symptom free for 7-10 days. If anything, a minor headache.

Beautiful. The team defense is so strong it hasn't really suffered with Sauer out of the lineup, but his underrated outlet passes have been missed. He helps move the team into transition. Looking foward to seeing him back in the lineup.

Wow.

I really thought we were going to be out with Sauer for possibly the season, but great news. Sauer is the exact guy we need back for the playoffs. Eminger back too is great.

I got a concussion about 2 months ago in my men's league. I dove on a defensive play to knock the puck off the stick of a player on a breakaway, then slid into the boards. My lower back hit first, then whipped my head back into the boards. I still get headaches ater playing. It hasn't stopped me from playing though, as they normally go away within an hour or so. On the drive home after it happened, I couldn't focus on anything. I nearly had to pull off the road twice on a ten minute drive. I definitely feel for these guys. They probably have it 10x worse than I did, simply due to the speed and ferocity of the game. I've been a little forgetful at times, but nothing like these guys who can't leave their rooms because of the light.

almost waiver time for Woywitka and Bickel once everyone is healthy and on NHL contracts

the pairings will be interesting. I go with the below when 100% healthy

McDonaugh , Girardi
Staal, Sauer
Del Zotto, Eminger
Stralman

Great news. I was really worried about Sauer after seeing his head crash into the dasher board. Hopefully he's ready to go in a few weeks.

If Sather waives Bickel I am going to be seriously pissed. No need to lose an asset like that because of a 500k cap hit. Woywitka, fine.

Keep 8 d-men on the roster. He would be claimed.

Yeah, I do wish there was a way to keep Bickel as at least a healthy scratch. I know Sauer brings toughness, but Bickel has really stuck up for his teammates.

no need to be pissed cause Bickel will clear. Woywitka has a better chance of being claimed based on his NHL experience.

In the end both clear cause they are not that good

We have guys that bring what Eminger does already, would have him as the 7th D.

I'd keep Bickel in the line-up and let Eminger be the 7th (or rotate Eminger & Bickel in and out of the line-up).... Don't really care what happens to Woywitka & Stralman.... Both did a nice job but it's a numbers game and neither of these 2 have any future with the organization.
