Leafs - Rangers (Minor League Deal)
Leafs Receive: Christian Thomas
Rangers Receive: Jesse Blacker + 3rd
I'm not sure how Thomas is viewed by rangers fan base, but I would love to see him in Toronto. Stumpy was one of my favorite players growing up and I'd love to see his son back here.
If I'm off.. what would it take?

Leafs pass. They need more size up front, not less.

If the Leafs wanted a right winger named Christian who is the son of a famous hockey player, they could have just kept this guy:

How does Jesse Blacker help the Rangers? They don't need another defenseman.
The Rangers like Thomas. Unless its for a good upgrade for the Rangers, why would they trade him?

I really really doubt the rangers are planning to give away thomas, from what i know they are pretty high on him as well.
edit not to mention they are pretty stacked on the defensive area

Thomas has had a tough season. He suffered an injury in Traverse City and then got suspended. The Rangers still like him.

We're pretty high on Thomas but would make him available at the right price. That being said, Thomas is more likely to be included in a deal for a top 6 winger that can help us now. We don't need more minor leaguers now.

Closer to real value would be a defenseman off the NHL roster, such as Franson.
What would you have expected for Nazim Kadri? Well, keep that in mind when considering Thomas scored on average TWICE what Kadri did in the OHL.

I have really really high hopes for Blacker and would be reluctant to give him up. I am also not to fond of smaller prospects as they have a harder time making an impact in the NHL.
However, Thomas' potential is still very high at this point and it would be wise for Rangers to keep him as a project.

he scored almost 200 points, and 70 goals? ...wow, the kid is a star, you should trade Gaborik to make room for him!

Kadri isn't a goal scorer? And was drafted for his blend of vision, creativity and peskiness not on his OHL accomplishments
BTW, Kadri absolutely dominated the playoffs in junior, not many players were able to elevate their game like he did.

Let's see how a 5'9 junior superstar does as a pro first.
Franson...good god.

Thomas' OHL Career:
2008-09: 59 Games/ 8 G - 17 A- 25 Pts
2009-10: 64 Games/ 41 G - 25 A - 66 Pts
2010-11: 66 Games/ 54 G - 45 A - 99 Pts
2011-12: 31 Games/ 18 G - 20 A - 38 Pts
Kadri's OHL Career:
2006-07: 62 Games/ 7 G - 15 A - 22 Pts
2007-08: 68 Games/ 25 G - 40 A - 65 Pts
2008-09: 56 Games/ 25 G - 53 A - 78 Pts
2009-10: 56 games/ 35 G - 58 A - 93 Pts
No one's disputing Thomas is a good player, but don't exaggerate wildly please. Also, Kadri played C, Thomas plays RW. Different responsibilities.

I dont think either team does this. Value-wise, who knows, but the Rangers can't take on another defenseman.

Don't want to just give away Thomas.
But would consider reasonable overpayment.
Something around TWO 2nds + Thomas for Leafs 2012 first.
Something not too high in prospects for Gunnarsson would seal that deal.

Let's keep this more about the players in question and less about which fanbase is more delusional, okay?

Okay, well let's not go overboard here.
In that case Brandon Kozun should have more trade value than lots of players out there...
EDIT: Now that I look at it, your statistics are wrong too, Kadri out PPGs Thomas...

In any event, the Rangers are already faced with the problem of what to do with some of their defensemen when injuries are healed.
A minor league defenseman s not something the Rangers will feel any need to deal one of their only RW prospects for. (Fasth is the only other one, unless you count Zuccarello) A 3rd is hardly going to change that.
