Giving up to much....Montreal is not in the position to win a cup without Subban and Ak and with Weber.
This trade sacrifices the future and ensure Montreal stays a mediocre team!
You want to trade AK because you think he won;t be back next year, that I can understand but to mortgage the future for Weber doesn;t make sense for Montreal as they are not in a position to seriously contend even if they make the playoffs!
Perhaps not but Weber would be an excellent choice to rebuild our defense around. The guy is a top 5 D in the NHL imho and does pretty much everything (offense , defense , big shot from the point , physical and big hitter and great in a stay at home role ).
Assuming he'd want to resign long term i'd probably do Subban + AK46 + 1st for Weber. The guy is just too good and at 26 still young with his prime years ahead of him.
AK has to be one of the more overrated Habs on this board. I'd have no issue keeping him at his current salary. Problem is he's going to get MORE. And I would not sign that guy longterm for $4M+. Some dumb team will, though.

The problem is Weber wants to get paid. Having the Cap space to sign him and still make other moves would be very difficult.
I think Gauthier is looking at Vojtel Wolski. He is available right now and is the kind of player Gauthier likes
How is Wolski the type of player Gauthier likes? He plays like Cammalleri the guy we just traded.
1 dimensional player making 3.8 mil. Last year 73 GP 12-23-35, this year 9 GP 0-3-3.
The only way I can see us interested is if NYR wants to dump him cheap to clear cap space and we take him as a reclamation project. Maybe Moen for 2nd or 3rd plus Wolski...or Kaberle for Wolski + 4th or 5th.
Maybe PG scored himself a new squeeze down there. If we are dealing with the Rags that means we are getting ripped off. They are playing good hockey right now. All we are going to get is their overpriced junk for a good player on our side.
dunno if posted already, but I doubt he was looking at NYR. We just saw them and pretty sure we know how freakishly huge Brian Boyle's family is.
I'm hoping he's not trying to send AK to Nashville.
Why not. This is exactly what the Habs have to do if they don't want him long term. The Habs for years have lost players being UFA, now they need to make a decision with AK, does Habs management see him part of the plan going forward? If yes sign him, if no trade him. Enough losing players for nothing

Like I said, I HOPE he's not trying to do that because he sees the AK situation as unsolvable (that we can't sign him for something reasonable). Maybe he already knows this, maybe it's speculation (which wouldn't be wild). Just saying I've always liked AK and I hope we can keep him. Obviously that depends on him and his agent too.
If AK doesn't resign, then I would do AK for Radulov and a pick/prospect.
I doubt we get a pick or prospect, Radulov is a better player. Maybe some type of consideration in case Radu wouldn't sign but like I said I'm sure he would play
