Lundqvist boosts his SV% back up to .937 with this shutout win. Had a feeling he wwas going to post one tonight.
Still a little worrisome is the amount of chances this team has been producing/burying. However if this is our slump where we play .500 hockey that is a massive improvement from seasons past, where we have had stretches of .300 hockey.
Highlight of the night: Strader comparing the Rangers to an octopus.
Good: Defense. Puck possession in the offensive zone
Bad: Start of the game. Hard to complain about too much, really. Would've like the offense to be more dynamic.
Redden: NBCSN missing the fact that the Rangers won <SEVEN> in a row after starting the season .500...
Good: Puck possession, defensive game, penalty kill
Bad: The start, scoring only twice on a goalie who was clearly out of his comfort zone
Redden: The dozen icings, PP
1. Carl Hagelin - Made Weber look like a rookie defenseman on several occasions
2. Derek Stepan - All over the ice tonight. He was in control of this game from start to finish
3. Henrik Lundqvist - Self explanatory.
In that final few minutes of the 3rd period, Dubi and Weber were racing towards a puck in the corner. Dubi totally outworked the guy and won the battle of the puck. I always said that he was superior along the boards and rarely if ever will lose a battle for a loose puck. Damn impressive, considering Shea is what, 6'5" 230?

Strange how this team goes from such a complete and perfect effort against Toronto, to an absolute disastrous game in Montreal, and then to an average (very solid) game against the Preds. Watching these three games, you wouldn't think it was the same group of players.
James Dolan made an impromptu cameo at Tortorella's postgame presser. Mentioned the Stanley Cup. Coach was thrilled.

Torts, who hears Dolan say his team is near a Cup, can't believe it, tries to squelch that talk before it goes too far. Calls it "B.S."

That Rangers ended on a very good note, but they were not outstanding, not by a long shot. They were outplayed for about half the game, especially their first period.
I wouldn't call it a disaster of a game, but it was very average.
Good: Boyle was awesome, as well as Hagelin and the rest of our bottom 6, and Stepan. Our D played well after a sloppy start, Anisimov and Richards showed they have a pulse, but they were crap otherwise.
Bad: I thought Callahan wasn't great, he had a few good shifts in the 3rd but he was quiet besides that.
